2025/26 David Moyes

I don’t think they pessimistic at all

He walked in happy
Said again he didn’t think it was handball but he was done talking about it and we didn’t do enough to win anyway
Said he’s excited to lead us out at the new stadium for the first time but there’s no more pressure than the relegation fight
Said he would’ve liked the players in earlier obviously but we’ve got money and will buy players but we’ve not been able to get in the very best we’ve gone after yet because we don’t have Europe as a draw
Then agreed the goal is Europe but said it won’t be (I forget the word but let’s say ‘a disaster’) if we don’t get it

Don’t see where any of that is anything but realistic with a bit of optimism if anything
You and I clearly differ on the definition of optimism.

If we sign some more good players and challenge for Europe this season I’d be pretty happy yeah. I’m very excited to see Dibling with Grealish and Ndiaye and Dewbsury-Hall - that’s a really exciting line up after years of hoping McNeil sends in a good set piece!
Not sure what that has to do with Moyes being a downbeat fella, but ok, good for you bud.

Fair dues to him, he's been playing the long game, he's been doing it for at least 23 years.
We need to change shirts at half time because the players can't see one another
It could have killed him
Don't play for England, play for Wales
No more christmas parties full of skirt
I didn't know the shoe box full of cash handed to me was a sweetener

I mean, the guy responsible for all these and more hand picked him to do the same.

I've got to say RP, sometimes I struggle to follow your posts. What has Alex Ferguson got to do with Moyes being a misery at press conferences?

Reets.

And you followed perfectly, 'Don't let the media use you, you use the media.' Ferguson was a master at it, always knew how to misdirect the maggots busying themselves around his side. Take the pressure off.

Moyes gave a media brief about 8 hours before a significant signing was announced where he said there was nothing happening and we'd keep trying.

He isn't required to tell the truth, or have any sort of standards, or consistency. His duty is to Everton and the players that have signed on with him to do a job. Typing this, I'm wondering if yodavek could be the man himself. Forget 'the usual suspects', we'd need a bigger reveal than that, maybe that 'Rosebud' was the kids sled?

Well FWIW….. I think Davey M MK 2 the right man for the job. Not perfect but he wants to be here (and that means a lot (to me) and I compare him to say fireman Sam and koeman who saw us a stepping stones…

Re signings snd DM’s press comments… I think he is playing a 90% straight bat with 10% backside covering … so fair play (compared to most managers)

I understand the view to keep things in house vs don’t complain in press conferences .. but season starts now and we need players..so I’m on board with his moaning 😁👍

Ps who knew messaging when you are errrrrr tired and emotional having supped two bottles of the happy red grape (not a euphemism) was do difficult!

Have a good night all… 😁

Up the the toffees 💪

yep

I know people who know Purdy and they talk very very highly of him mate. Thelwell is just my own opinion that in awful circumstances he did a good job, plus the fact Purdy liked working with him.
Interesting about Purdy, just looks like a big loss losing them both. Ultimately I blame TFG for going along with Moyes’s nonsense.

Exactly mate.
We also have some old school big ;lads , for set pieces too.
Exciting times , if it all gels

TFG were shocked when Purdy walked
Unbelievable really, any rational person wouldn’t be shocked. He’s just worked with a DOF in the most difficult circumstances possible and they’ve helped keep the club afloat. Then along comes Mr Big Time and says Thelwell has to go and he wants a completely different structure and his mate as head of recruitment! What did they expect he’d do?!
