2025/26 David Moyes

I think this is pretty clear and as a corporate US entity they will expect to be run as a team pushing the same corporate messages.

They wont want anyone going rogue.

How much do you reckon they have in the pot? Weve done circa £130mil at this point before add ons.

Saying that players have turned Everton down.

Is it A: Positive? Does it enhance the reputation and club image?

B: Effective? Does it help in any way to attract players?

C: Negative. A pointless message.

In addition, saying the club are a way down lists of players isnt going to make anyone feel like theyre special and one of the main club targets.

Surely its best for players to think theyre a key signing rather than 8th pick?

How is stating that the club is failing to attract players, increasing standards?

Whats the goal there & telling the world Everton have money to spend?
I'm pretty sure everyone knows we have money. We've been trying to sign Dibling since the end of July, and it looks like it's progressing.

I argued for retaining Thelwell - you do that I know for a fact Purdy doesn't walk.

I argued against Moyes and fir potter last season - as those were the only two names - yeah potter would have been an awful choice but Moyes should have been

I know 100% he cancelled the lad from Lyon who we'd arranged to buy for 20m
Interesting about the Lyon lad. Completely agree about Purdy. We didn't have to chose between Moyes and Potter, there were plenty of managers available at the time we were considering Dyche's future, pretty much any of them would have kept us up imo, I mean even Periera kept Wolves up quite comfortably. It was a poor league. What any well run club would have done is leave the decision up to Thelwell as to who we recruit. Considering the state of our squad and the signings needed in the summer it was absolute madness to ditch Thelwell and Purdy. I don't think there are many DOF's who could have done a better job considerning the operating circumstances of the club.

I wonder with that stuff, if it's more it's a stable team that makes a difference.
I think it's more will I improve under this manager/team to get a further move.

At least that's the way any half decent agent should regard it.

You had e a young player
since you said all that about nightclubs it sounds like we’ve agreed a fee to sign one of the most exciting young wingers in the country so clearly Moyes and his team know a thing or two more than we do about how to sign good players

Continuing the analogy, hopefully we snagged the dizzy 19yo with the promise of a flash car and a boss time

I know people who know Purdy and they talk very very highly of him mate. Thelwell is just my own opinion that in awful circumstances he did a good job, plus the fact Purdy liked working with him.

If you look back through our time in the premier league, which is the time I’ve been going the game. In the 90’s we were infamous for final day escapes, mainly because we had two high profile final day televised escapes. Smith steadied the ship on a limited budget but it was still drab. No manager has offered the consistency that Moyes has, from 06/07 to 11/12 we went 6th 5th 5th 8th 7th 7th, prior to that we had a 7th that came from absolutely nowhere given what went before and even more incredible was our best PL finish in 04/05

The lack of respect for Moyes by the online characters (certainly not a general consensus in the ground given the fans chanting his song) is abysmal.

I read a post earlier that said (paraphrasing) “Moyes will play things down, we will start slow, turn it around and finish 8th” and that post was critical towards Moyes.

Christ, how many of you live in the real world? Moyes rebuilt this club as best he could under Kenwright. Martinez bought tradesman in to remove the damp course (they thought it was a weird request but they did it) and it’s been downhill since.

If we finish any better than halfway we should be happy. This isn’t fifa and a lot of clubs are way ahead of us, in fact we just finished above 2 teams we have no rights to be finishing above and won’t be finishing above this season, so effectively we’re starting from 15th.
Personally i didnt want moyes back after the man u stuff thats just me. I thought he did great though last season when he came back. He got the same players dyche got to not far from midtable back there again. They deffo werent going to get there under dyche last season. Hes still got the majority of those players he picked regular last season and added a few. So i just dont get the language hes using. I dont see any reason for it. I dont expect to go challenging for europe from where we are starting. I am realistic and patient. I want to see progress and us finish higher playing better football. Moving into the new stadium isnt going to solve things overnight. Neither is the new owners money. Maybe moyes needs to reign himself in a bit. He seems to me like he thinks he should be signing the finished article to make that jump and not the type of signings weve made and mostly who weve been linked to. I thought our strategy would be to go for younger talent and bring in a bit of experience here and there and thats what weve done. He did it first time around repeatedly and did the same at west ham. So whats he moaning for?
