I was thinking this is like finally replacing Gordon with a player who has all the tools to be better, so you may be right. And adjusting for inflation, even though it's only about two years, this is better financially aside from the sell-on.
The sell on is nuts, it's 20% of anything over what we end up paying if we sell him. If this kid goes on to be bought by someone for say £100m, then we'll be very lucky indeed. Imagine what kind of player he has to become to reach that potential.

How long til the rest of the football world catches on to "the Friedkin" (walking away and then getting a reduced fee 3 weeks later) as a negotiation tactic?
