New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

No, I'm suggesting that this stadium of ours is very noticeably festooned with the name 'Hill Dickinson' and it's swamping it to the point where we have no identity at it apart from 4 badges in the outermost and uppermost corners of the west and east stands...no doubt so as to not take the attention away from 'Hill 'kin Dickinson'.

...and I'd be absolutely spot on in that suggestion too.

But please carry on defending the name "Everton' from being nowhere to be seen.

I know that I am wasting my time here, as you are so obviously trolling or are really this obtuse.

The picture you put up had 3 times more Emirates than Arsenal, directly on the stadium. There was big Arsenal wording outside, which is your only valid point. There was another view put up where there was no Arsenal, on a side that would be seen by a lot of commuters, as well. As said, it is not the smoking gun you think it is.

Football is commercial these days and we have to go with the times, if the deal is good for Everton financially, then they can put their name up this many times without a grumble from the majority. I don't actually think it is that bad at all. It is some white lettering on 3 sides, then there is the roof, and now the tunnel area. I just don't think that is outrageous enough to go anywhere near the hyperbole that you come up with.

I am sure there will be a little more Everton sprinkled at some point.

I am one of those that less is more. I don't think that too much more needs to be added.I guess those that are defending it have a lot more patience than you do?

I'm pretty sure I can figure out we play at this stadium, so i'm all good.

For years at Goodison there were two crests on the main stand and one on the end of the bullens. Don't remember anyone saying it needed more...
I think some fans are overly sensitive about stuff like this.

It's our stadium, and it's an absolute knock-out. That's it as far as I'm concerned.

I did...

When Arsenal opened the Emirates in 2006.

When City were first sponsored by Etihad in 2009

That's what I'm talking about.

Looks like the Etihad regional office, Manchester City centre branch. 😉

Think the new stadium looks incredible. For me the Hill Dickinson physical lettering looks quite smart, but I’m not 100% sold on the rooftop decals, but there we go. Unless you are building a stadium for 1 person then it’s never going to be seen as perfect.

Speaking of branding/advertising etc…….is there any reason that the space between the South Stand big window and the concourse window couldn’t house a bank of video screens in the future? For me would make the stadium look mega futuristic (especially at night). Obviously from a marketing perspective would provide big opportunities. Or even if it just displayed Everton videos and branding, that would massively “Everton” the place up and at the same time make it look like something out of Blade Runner 😎 It would also hide the underside of the South Uppers bowl. Probably some technical reason it might not be possible. But even if not video screens that could change message, some canvas screens that could display “Everton” in a pretty enormous way

I wouldn't expect any 25th century technology, they can just about put blue hob lights on mate.

I do get the minor gripes that there's not enough Everton branding on the exterior. I'm assuming it's a design choice to make it a more flexible and appealing venue for non footballing activities.

One compromise could be to have some sort of large 3d sculpture in the plaza with the clubs name and a traditional crest in blue, put it in a good position so people can have their photos near it with the stadium as back drop 👍

Not defending the lack of "Everton" being seen. I'd really like it to be there.

Just pointing out that you are hyperbolising to a huge degree, and once again so desperate to point out the negative, at every step, about every single thing.

Think there was restrictions put on what kind of lighting we could have given the sensitivity of the conservation area.

I'm obviously aware that over time there'll be an Evertonisation of the stadium.

However, why have the club not learned the lessons from City and Arsenall's moves and moved to avoid that? THAT is the question.

It could be suggested that they dont want Hill Dickinson to have any sort of competition for recognition early in the contract with them and they've laid off using our name around the ground. Maybe more revenue came from doing that.

Whatever the reason it wasn't the right thing to do. Most Everton supporters are disappointed this stadium lacks an Everton presence - barring those out of the way badges. It's Everton fans they should be more concerned about not a commercial partner.

We'd have to get permission off Hill 'kin Dickinson for that.

BTW, this notion that 'Everton' isn't anywhere to be seen because it's going to be a mix-use facility is the biggest insult to the club and its fans ever conceived.

At the end of the day Everton branding does not alter performance, having Hill Dickinson pay us x amount of million and whatever Budweiser are paying to sponsor the plaza does or at least can.

All we should be caring about is what happens on the pitch, over time bit by bit, they'll tart up the stadium to feel more like home, but conscious that this will have other events held here too.
