You’re 100% correct. People also rush into calling the club a disgrace based on things that may or may not happen. Everything is taken as a sign of incompetence. Leaks are incompetence, no leaked links are a sign of nothing being done, if we buy a player we have paid too much, if anyone else buys a player we assume he will be a big success, if anyone else scouts a player who increases in value then we should have bought him first etc. it’s completely draining.
But if the ā€˜incompetence’ is like 30 years and ongoing its likely that conclusion is largely correct…

I'm not crying incompetence, but there has very obviously been a very public game of brinkmanship going on with this transfer. If this whole saga ends with another club buying Dibling for the deal Southampton wanted while Everton end up with nothing, then Everton very clearly haven't won that game, have they?

I'm not convinced Spurs do end up with him FWIW, but their very involvement makes it a lot harder for Everton to gain any ground in negotiations. The best run at it they had was two weeks ago when nobody else was interested, but for whatever reason nothing happened then.

Also I'd be more inclined to give Everton the benefit of the doubt if this exact thing didn't happen almost every summer, always leaving us empty handed.
IF Southampton won't sanction the sale until the find a replacement and spurs sign Dibling as a result of Eze going to Arsenal. Is that Evertons fault?

Just because it's a book profit doesn't mean it's sustainable business model. Ideally sales should recover what you paid for them. The amortisation is still a cost.

It's like you buying a car for 10k and selling it for 3k after 5 years, you wouldn't run around telling your mates you made a profit would you?
That does ignore though that if he has increased his value, he’s played very very well for us, in he same way as you had use and enjoyment of that car. Didn’t just buy it, watch it depreciate then sell it.

All the talk of Spurs involvement knackering our negotiating stance, and ā€œthey can’t have a high price and a high sell onā€. There is no negotiating stance as they have made clear there is no negotiation. And they can ask for whatever they want.

How is it 30 years? We did extremely well throughout David Moyes first spell but we had no money. Some of our fans have a massive sense of entitlement.

Can I point out that Miguel Delaney’s article only says an approach not an official approach and not a bid. They have inquired. No more. Dibling isn’t top of Spurs list per the Evening Standard. Who knows? Beware sensationalised headlines.

It's still an actual £15m profit if you want to tell your mates. If you want to deal with PSR, it's more.
