Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

Southampton are going to get exactly what they wanted out of this with Spurs coming in, and fair play to them. Sucked Everton into a game of chess and wiped the floor with them.

Need to pray Leicester will still sell that Fatawu even with Palace going after their other good winger. Otherwise, honestly who knows what we're going to do.
I’m not sure this is spurs first target, this won’t appease their fans after missing out on big targets.
Also Dibling knows he will be on the bench and probably won’t even get off the bench most weeks.
They haggled over 60mil for Eze and trying to throw richarlison in, not sure they will spend 45/50 on a 19yr old

Sell on is only a factor if Dibling increases his value... If he does, it's likely because he's playing very well for us.

If we buy for 50m + 25% of profit and sell him for even £70m after a year, they get 5m. We get 65m with his book value at 40m.

Still a 25m book profit after a year with a modest increase in his value. I really don't see this as the issue. I think the issue is more them valuing him at more than we want to commit to paying. Future profit is a bonus.

He's 19.

30 odd league appearances, and 2 goals.

The example you give would be our record club transfer, and still lashing 25% on profit after it.

It would be insane.

This is complete trash. Some people want to view every single thing that doesn’t go our way as evidence of incompetence. It’s really weird.

You pay that for a guarantee that the kids going to be another Gareth Bale.

There is no guarantee here.

He could equally be another Ravel Morrison

It's not about a mindset, it's about reality.

He's 19, the probability is at some stage he moves on.

PSR dictates Everton have to factor in and prioritise resale on every transfer they make. None more so than what would be their biggest transfer this window.

You used the word 'gamble' - indeed, it's a big gamble and there has to be a potential reward in that, and if 25% of any profit is lost, then it makes the gamble less worth doing.

Every transfer is a gamble, again you mention the 25% add on and yes it is high, but what if we want to keep hold of him, I realise that isn't always possible, but okay we sell him on in a few years, we increase the transfer fee a bit and we put our own 25% sell on fees on him, if they don't agree they don't get in sure someone will bite. I do know we've left it very late in the window to aquire a class right winger, most don't want to come here, he does, the chances are he will get better and as for not being as far along as Gordon was, how many goals did Gordon score for us and in how many games ? A lot of us couldn't believe we got that much money for Gordon, what price now ? And as for sell on who knows if we have or haven't ? Besides this all could well be a waste of time with Spurs getting gazumped by Arsenal for Eze.

I'm not crying incompetence, but there has very obviously been a very public game of brinkmanship going on with this transfer. If this whole saga ends with another club buying Dibling for the deal Southampton wanted while Everton end up with nothing, then Everton very clearly haven't won that game, have they?

I'm not convinced Spurs do end up with him FWIW, but their very involvement makes it a lot harder for Everton to gain any ground in negotiations. The best run at it they had was two weeks ago when nobody else was interested, but for whatever reason nothing happened then.

Also I'd be more inclined to give Everton the benefit of the doubt if this exact thing didn't happen almost every summer, always leaving us empty handed.

The truth is none of us know the details of the negotiations and all this cry assing is based solely on made up speculation and a passion for calling the club a disgrace. It's really weird
You’re 100% correct. People also rush into calling the club a disgrace based on things that may or may not happen. Everything is taken as a sign of incompetence. Leaks are incompetence, no leaked links are a sign of nothing being done, if we buy a player we have paid too much, if anyone else buys a player we assume he will be a big success, if anyone else scouts a player who increases in value then we should have bought him first etc. it’s completely draining.
