2025/26 Dwight McNeil

Same. It’s really puzzling to me. Putting him on left pushes Ndiaye central. Or, keep Ndiaye on the left and Dwight on right. Dwight is proven. It’s been strange to me to see him benched so much since last season and to not be featured on the wings.
Even as an emergency left wing back. He played well enough there in the Bournemouth relegation game.

I have never rated him but the stats say otherwise
Totally agree, the stats show him for what he is tbh, a lower half of the league player who on his day can offer a moment of something. Even if he was just a bit more consistent it would make a massive difference to his game. Add in the one footedness and the lack of pace and you are keeping him in for his set pieces and he becomes a luxury player then.

It’s just baffling because if you look around, we’ve only really got one winger and that’s him. The rest are playing out of position and the results are what they are. You’ve got midfielders playing wing. And yet you’ve got tons of film on Dwight that would suggest you need him in there.

Put him on left and let’s develop a left-sided focused strategy until we get a RW. And why not put Grealish on RW for a spell? Or KDH as RW and Grealish central. Hell, swap out Grealish for Beto. Think differently.

These guys are versatile but we treat them like they’re not and we suffer. Grealish has enormous composure due to experience very few players have ever enjoyed. Let’s apply it creatively.

Think it’s a mistake to freeze him out. That he didn’t make if off the bench on Monday is bizarre

I don't think he's anywhere near good enough. Under Dyche everything went through him and it was the team's detriment despite there being some good moments. Belongs at clubs loitering around the drop zone, which in fairness means he's been in the right place the last few years.

I think there’s a lot of overreaction here and I think he’ll be a ‘horses for courses’ rotation player this season

When we have a lot of time on the ball and are trying to break down a stubborn defence he’s a great option to play a through ball, pinpoint cross or hit a rocket whereas Leeds was a frantic scrappy game with no quality and no time on the ball, let alone time to shift it onto your one foot and take time picking a pass

I think we’ll see plenty of Dwight, especially in home games

He had 10 goal involvements last year in half a season. How is he not good enough to make it off the bench in the squad that was presented on Monday?
