My personal favourites are the “(not that) deep down I wish I picked the other side of the city” blues. They maintain they hate the reds and spew some very fanatical sounding hate but they do watch all their games, have an encyclopaedic knowledge of their history and club structure and also bring them up in any conversation about football.

I’m sure there’s nothing to it though….

Awful lot of that in the witch hunt threads

I love Everton, in spite of everything Everton currently are. The history, the fans, the identity of the club, the success we've had relative to other teams (staying in the top division for almost our entire history is a success).

As far as our current standing, I don't get angry at the club, just quietly disappointed. But, I can't do anything about it, so I don't take it too seriously.

The more you intertwine your happiness with the success (or lack of) the club, you more unhappy you will be.

The older you get you realise that you hate the r/s more than you love Everton which is counterbalanced with hating Everton as much as you love them.
Putting the F in UTFT 👊🏻
So I agree with this but additionally I’ve also grown to hate Everton as well , it’s a weird mental state and I’m not sure I could adequately explain it with a gun to my head .
