The penalty incident is masking an absolutely awful performance. I think anyone with a passing knowledge about football will say that it was a very harsh decision but the more we talk about that particular incident the more we ignore a dire performance which lacked any form of ambition at all. I can forgive a lot but to be going to a team that has just been promoted and not even trying to compete with them is indicative of the problems we have. This window needs to yield both skill and endeavour if we are to make any forward strides.

Just seen the Rangers score, woeful under Martin as he was for Soton, managing his only win for them against us....Would not be surprised if last nights win for Leeds is their only one as well.....

Penalty or not, it was the sort of game one error is enough for us to lose it. Fundamentally we created sod all, let Leeds get at us, and had no room to deal with or recover from a mistake.

Must do better. Im looking at you Moyes and Everton. Can't be going through the season in tight scrappy games hoping the rub goes your way.

They outrun us by some distance as well.

They wanted it more than us.

It's what happens when you cram too many square pegs into round holes. I know injuries determined it but I'd of preferred a system where we least had players in their best positions even if it was 3 at the back

Leeds had their tactics spot on for this.
It shows how light we are on players that 1 injury (out of the 2) has caused so much disruption.
No Mykolenko and with Aznou not quite ready for PL football meant that Garner had to go to LB.
Don't get me wrong, he did well playing out of position, but moving him there hurt us so much.

His job is usually to sit deeper in the midfield and drop back to support the CB's allowing the full backs to join the attack when we spring our counter.
Tim is not as good at this as Garner, Leeds knew this and overloaded the midfield meaning we couldn't safely spring out counter (Which has been a deadly tactic under Moyes) without leaving ourselves exposed.
We looked better second half when KDH dropped back to help, but that also put us at a disadvantage as he is clearly more effective further forward.

We have our first team all fit, I think we deal with the midfield press much better and would have been able to commit to the counter much better and likely would have had a better result.

We need players in. We need proper cover at LB until Aznou is ready (A loan could sort this), we need a proper right back (JO'B has done well, but he isn't a RB) and we need another holding midfielder, not to mention the elusive right winger we've been looking for all season.

We cannot continue to allow 1 injury to derail us this badly through out the season, else we are going to flounder.

*Yes, I know Branthwaite is injured as well, but his injury didn't cause us to move so many players out of position.

Credit to the Leeds fans for making a proper go of it last night. Definitely helped their team. On the other hand, I barely heard our away end. Not much to shout about I guess but after so many years of a closed shop on tickets it's probably gone stale. Not really a way around that as you can take tickets away from the fans who've been the most loyal.
Agree, other than certain away games, such as Newcastle last season, where you had quite a few available, most of the time our away fans are pretty quiet.

Because he hasn’t even got a contract, struggled in league 2 last season and was going to Stockport 3 weeks ago. This is down to our lack of recruitment
Which league 2 side did he play for last Season ? Thought he was Stockport last Season and got a long term injury I might be wrong but if he failed there why would they be back for him this season . And I highly doubt that he would be at Everton if he was not contracted he would have been at Stockport 3 weeks ago as you stated

As an American I don't really understand what "cheese on toast" means but I think that is supposed to be my vote for man of the match Monday night. Can someone help me understand that phrase?

I dont think that were that many square pegs. I wouldnt have gone 3 at the back personally. They had two whippet wingers. Can you imagine the ridicule and fume if moyes had left michael keanes pace against daniel james. They were both handled well imo. But the flip side is this fullback thing. I dont think you can underestimate how much it affects everything else as a knock on. Leeds never got pulled out of position at all for 95% of that game. Fullbacks are intergral now for any team. You cant have no natural fullbacks at a club. Its mad.
