Homepage Article Recruitment Moan

We started pre season with no RW at all in the squad, so Everton being Everton we bought a CAM, ST, GK, LB, CM, GK, LW... Right now I would take a suitable stop gap, bailey/Sancho's names getting thrown about for Roma?

The dynamic duo, Hammond and Kinnear, need some rabbits out of hats or they will find themselves a fans target.

And you don't wanna get on the wrong side of EFC fans.
This has me thinking: There's been a lot of talk about making the new stadium feel like home. Maybe it might be helpful, should there be no signings between now and the first game, for some "HAMMOND AND KINNEAR OUT" bedsheets to come out. Really be an apt way of opening up the new gaff for real.

And play Farley TVs ripping us in their last two vids about Leeds "dyche has had plastic surgery to look like Moyes" had me in stitches. Thanks recruitment team that's been my only good memory of everton this weekend, well and Barry on eafc25 UT finally in everton

For all those saying that "things never change" with recruitment - things did change under Thelwell, for the better.

He should not have been let go.
100%correct but TFG agreed with Moyes demands to have the main say on player recruitment, just like he did in his first spell. Madness given the needs we had this pre-season. He should have been told that we aren't ditching the DOF role, and he will have to work with Thelwell. Everything else flows from that decision, and that's why we are in a complete mess.

Thelwel never addressed the fullback problem either. Thats the real issue with Everton right now. Apart from low numbers. If we can get fullbacks in i really think we'll be fine.
Moyes and DOF. Thats a whole new pandoras box. I cant see him getting on with one. I think he had an issue at west ham with theirs aswell though i dont know to what extent.

Thelwell had no money and also had to get Dyche to agree to signings, I think it was about 6 players that Dyche turned down from Thelwell in the last 10 days of the transfer window in the summer. Dyche wanted Ashley Young.

This is why you get the DOF to appoint the manager. Football 101. Ignored by Moshiri and TFG. We are never going to get anywhere unless we appoint a top class DOF and allow them to do their job.

I had a spare 20 minutes and pulled together some quick thoughts on our recruitment situation;

I’m looking to line up more articles for the front page, if you’ve got an idea for an article - whether it’s a detailed piece or a short opinion - drop me a message. We’d love to feature more fan voices on the front page.

Here’s a quote for you:

“you can never have too many keepers”

I want somebody like edu (forest) in our recruitment team...no wannabe managers that have zero track record of success in football.

TBF I think Moyes misunderstood what Thelwell's role was and how he had been doing it under Dyche, ie: as a fixer of the problems that were rife in that squad and with an acceptance that the manager had the final say on who played. Being proved right in the end (over JOB and Beto) would have helped as well.

TFG don't have that excuse though, especially as the cause of the problem that Thelwell had to fix was several managers bringing their own failures in.

Im not overly convinced by them. Moshri was just a terrible clueless owner. To me thats more the key. An owner who knows what he's doing. like Tony Bloom.
Bottom line is Everton are a club in the premier league who cant field a fullback. Someone has to get a hold of that.

It’s just more of the same. That’s what’s so dispiriting about Everton, nothing ever changes.

The football played is exactly the same no matter who the manager is (except for one season under Martinez and 7 games under Ancelotti). It’s low/mid block long ball rubbish with the hope we might get something from a turnover high up the pitch, a knockdown, or a set piece.

No matter who we bring in the team looks slow, weak, and technically poor. Every player we buy eventually devolves to this level even after a bright start.

We always have a glut of injuries, usually all in similar positions so we consistently have problems like no striker, no right back, no holding midfielder, no right winger.

We won’t win away at any of the top 6 grounds even though teams like Palace Bournemouth Brentford have no problem doing this.

We won’t win either Derby.

We won’t win a trophy.

There will be minimal away wins.

There will be absolutely minimal moments of pure joy for fans e.g last minute winner, comeback wins, direct free kicks, wonder goals.

We’ll stay close enough to bottom half trouble throughout the majority of the season playing turgid one paced football until February at which point being completely out of everything we’ll beat a few teams at home we’re supposed to beat once there’s no pressure on. If the fans are very very lucky there might be a home win v Chelsea or Spurs but barely ever Liverpool. Optimism will ramp up for the next season…..

And we’ll do the exact same again.
Blimey, SD, you're starting to sound like me. Everton have finally broken you, eh? Welcome to the club!
