Looks that way to me.
Beto was not the Beto of last season last night. It was a ‘sulky’ performance.

I think Moyes’ team selection was political. He wanted to send a clear message to the powers that be.

don't play him then. Being mentally unready is as bad as being physically unready. Moyes kept him on the pitch for 97 when most will have dragged him off the pitch after 45.
I think he played him deliberately for that long to show the board he doesn’t have options on the bench.

I was calling for McNeil to come on so we could go 3 at the back with wingbacks. I also think Jack Harrison makes a big difference to that game last night with a bit more balance to the team (and his link up with Charly)

Of course they said that - we are not a sky club.
I’m sure somebody will already have pointed this out but ….

If Tarkowski ‘leans’ towards the ball and it hits his chest that is not a penalty ….

Even Carragher would have to agree that surely? It is a good block.

So the ‘he leans into it’ cobblers is just that.

As Henry Winter somewhere on I think this thread pointed out; arm not away from body. Arm not in a unnatural position. No penalty.

Sigh. The EPL sky and the PGML do seem to have it in for us

To Leeds credit they came out and pressed us high, suffocated our defence. So whilst it was a horrid performance from us we do have to give Leeds some credit for that. It was an extremely difficult game especially with Branthwaite and Mykolenko out.

We go again on Sunday. This one’s gone now

Garner my MoM. The way the game played out it was Leeds' to lose as we never looked like scoring (again!)

The officials were horrendous, though Kavanagh always is when refereeing our games. How they missed the ball going a yard over the line for a corner to us I will never know.

Moyes has got his work cut out to get us ready for Brighton.

In other news Warrington Town P3 D1 L2 F1 A6 It's going to be another long season :(

On the penalty that never was - would that have been given against LFC? I doubt it very much. And is it was we'd never hear the last of 'the officials got it wrong because they hate us' for weeks and months.

That first half performance was abysmal, down to Moyes, and an insult to us fans and the players. The second half was obviously much better, down to Moyes allowing players to go hunting/wanting the ball, and not stymied by 'keep in position in case of the breakdown'. Which was his downfall during his first stint 'don't get beat' mentality and was primarily the reason we never won away against the 'top 4'. I thought he'd gotten rid of that mentality but last night first half, showed not fully. We played like a team frightened rather than a team with very good footballers who can actually receive the ball and play pass and move, which was a bit evident in the second half.

Either he changes, and allows those players to play or he goes. Because performances like that will see us again languishing around the bottom and not win us a cup {which should be the priority}. Playing well, using and allowing players to play, make the right subs at the right time, builds confidence, which in turn brings results. At the start of last season Dyche has us playing some wonderful football but he couldn't utilise his subs properly, which was to see out games when we were in a winning position, then he turned to defensive type football (his forte) and that became his downfall. The same will happen to Moyes if he doesn't learnt lessons from last night.

Should have been this last night

Half the normal defence out. Garner playing out of position.
A newly promoted team playing their first game of the season at home. What do you expect? They are going to be going full-tilt 100% in the first half. We kept them at bay. A gash penalty against us in the 87th minute gifted them the win. I never felt they looked like scoring. We put in a far better performance than Wet Spam at Sunderland, who got absolutely mullered. Keep things in perspective.

And to all the critics of Beto (not you) - what do you expect when the team is under the cosh? He needs the midfield to gain and hold possession, and to get the CORRECT supply. He did not get that last night. He will get that over a season, and score several...

Disappointing start but 1 game.
However we were too timid and let a poor side dominate.
Couldnt get anything to stick up front.
Next game must be Grealish and Barry to start.
