Maybe if he hadn't have leaned into the ball with his arm the ref might have some sympathy with this arguement.
Players leaning or moving towards the ball with hands behind their back is a very common occurrence, on occasion the ball hits the upper arm and it's never been given before, I'm not buying arguments from people saying this was the right decision. Half a second either way and it's missing him completely or hitting him square on the chest that's the margins we are talking here.

If Tarkowsli stayed upright, and the ball hit him, then fair enough.

But he didn't did he, he leaned into the ball delierately to block it.
Players are allowed to move towards the ball with their hands behind their back, in-fact I believe they are instructed to do so, a penalty like that has never been given before, there will be at least 30 such incidences where the ball hits the upper arm of a player who's moving or sliding towards the ball and none of them will be given.

Really missed Doucs tonight, wouldn’t be surprised if Moyes goes all out for Soucek now
Yeah another player with lack of pace will fit right in.

I mean you're probably right, and he will, but I am seriously worried that Moyes 2.0 is on the down curve after the positive quick fixes in Jan.

Interesting stats here on low-scoring clubs in 2024/25 three out the 5 went down.

Only one game in to this season, so on point in mega predictions, but from the style of play and recruitment, the bottom 6 or 7 teams is West Ham Everton, Brentford, Burnley, Palace (if they lose (Eze and Guehi), Leeds, Sunderland.

If that's where TFG and Moyes are aiming, no alarm bells.

It was never a pen for me but come on that just misses the point.

We were dreadful against a terrible Leeds team who were bigger , stronger and who wanted it more.

We lacked balance , shape and quality.

Something has to change very quickly.
