Felt sorry for him. He was absolutely hung out to dry and looked like a pub player in the first half - which was not at all his fault as he's a kin central midfielder, whose second position, if you can even call it that, is at right back.
We were destroyed on the wings last night, which obviously nobody at all is surprised about since there is no pace at all in the entire squad and we have no natural full backs available to us. Sad thing is he'll be forced to playing left back against Brighton too, who are even more rapid than Leeds.
I’m already wishing he hadn’t scored that free kick v Port Vale you know. He’s gonna have a shot from 30 yards every week isn’t he.
We missed him in centre midfield. Needed his composure and positional nous to bail us out in the middle of the park.
….i think he was excellent. I watched Leeds a lot last season and James was easily their most threatening attacker. Before the game, I posted that the Garner v James match-up could be critical and Garner won it hands down.
Clearly you want a natural left footer in that key position as the whole pitch is open to pick a pass but Garner demonstrated his versatility and quality to fill-in adequately a totally strange position. Good footballer, the type you need in a squad.
I agree...ok the odd time you can ask him to play RB but asking the lad to play full back on his weaker foot.Personally dont think we lose that game if he starts in thr CM
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks he’s not in the team.I’m already wishing he hadn’t scored that free kick v Port Vale you know. He’s gonna have a shot from 30 yards every week isn’t he.
Gana and Tim don't play well together I don't think.Personally dont think we lose that game if he starts in thr CM
Gana and Tim don't play well together I don't think.
Gana likes to go and chase the ball and Tim doesn't have the positional sense to cover accordingly or manage the danger when he's left alone.
Garner I think is quite good foil for Gana, bit more aware of where he is on the pitch
Not to mention he was Everton’s best player as voted on the poll, how did O’Brien get so many votes I thought he was Everton’s worse player by far, although there was quite a few contenders!Stuck at it tbf and one of the players who can say they put a shift in.
