2025/26 David Moyes

He’s made a mistake on selection and allowed the LB problem to disrupt both defence and the midfield.

The bigger problem was the lack of connection between the players on the ball and the rest of the team looking for the ball.

That has nothing to do with selection or tactics and has been a feature of preseason no matter who plays where.

It’s obvious they’ve left the momentum of last season behind and did laps and drills instead of any kind of coaching.

They kept going back to the keeper because they weren’t showing for each other and making options.
Bit of a chicken and egg that one though. Moyes has to shoulder a lot of the blame for tonight, despite being dealt a bad hand. For me it was literally a 1 out of 10 managerial performance.

But you cannot really work on patterns of play and shape etc when you literally don't have a right hand side and you then add injuries to the mix and 2 of your new midfielders being with the club a matter of days.

The delays in recruitment may be down to him, or partially down to him, or not at all. But in point of fact, you cannot do much work on these things with our squad in its current state. But you can set up teams better to mitigate some of that and you can certainly manage the game better.

We disgraced ourselves in America. Normally, that wouldn't bother me, but why travel that far to stink a place out when you can do it at home.

If you're going to these places because "the market is so important" - Angus Kinnear - then don't soil the brand.
Its baffling too as we have American owners who are involved in the media, surely they understand optics and PR and the brand

We were very poor but I still trust Moyes to sort it out. We really need additions the starting line up was wrong but he didn't have much choice.
I think he has better choices insofar who he chooses to start and who comes in as subs. Ambition sometimes means faith and rolling the dice a little. I think he has good players and he’s choosing to ease them in. I don’t think Leeds would’ve had an answer for Barry, Grealish, Armstrong, Ndiaye, and KDH starting the match. Smother the opposition.

Yeah that is the issue with Moyes at times over cautious he likes to ease players in and a game like tonight he played not to lose rather than to win. It showed second half when we pushed up and improved a bit we started to control it and make a few openings. Its a shame as he didnt do that when he came in last season but then the squad is depleted. I do agree some of his selections were strange and wrong but then we don't know the fitness on some players, Grealish had no preseason for instance there are the injuries and a lack of a right hand side all coming together

I stand by this, a no preseason Grealish with his enormous experience is 100% match ready and is better as a player than anyone on Leeds. He should’ve been a no brainer starter.

Had us flying last season compared to Dyche. Doesn’t totally excuse tonight, but he had a tough draw with injuries and poor recruitment. Three of our starting eleven were playing out of position out of necessity. It’s really tough. Let’s give him some time here before the knives come out.
