2025/26 David Moyes

Just got in from the game...

The cavemen discovered if you play with fire, you get burned.

Yet Moyes couldn't get play out from back wasn't working against the high pressure, and persisted.

Im hopefully it was a "we need more reinforcements", and not a grossly inadequate tactical performance.

Pen or no pen, that was garbage.

And not trusting another teenager in Harrison Armstrong. Armstrong is technically very good, always seems to have time on the ball, and rarely ever gives the ball away. That absolute sh!tshow of a midfield was crying out for someone to control the ball in the middle of the park, and progress it to the forward players. Why doesn’t he trust him? We all know the answer.

How weve gone with 2 CMs who cant sit is beyond me.

If not Garner central (LB!) then Armstrong would make the most sense.

Moyes seemed to want to play people in weird roles.

Just playing Seamus tonight at rb changes the balance of the team.
Nobody need be out of position then.
Why T F was he on the bench as our only rb?

Who plays LB?
Who plays RW?
Who plays 6?
Who plays 10?

Oh, also hes finished.

I salute you for not breaking the swear filter.

How was the general vibe about Moyes using so many players out of position?

Did most seem to lay the blame at his door?

I did write a fair few, and quickly changed them.

The vibe around me was the first half was as dire a performance in a long time.

The fella next to me said "how would the fans react if Dyche was the man who put that half out", and I cannot disagree.

Woeful. At times we pressed, they panicked. Yet it felt coincidental, s we were never consistent with it.

Meanwhile, we persisted with inviting pressure and Alcaraz slipping leading to the pen, was so obviously going tk happen.

Fans were great in second half great voice... had the performance been anything other than first game i expect less warm response.

2nd half could really hear the noise come through.

Same as you said for me, selection, tactics, lack of preparation all on Moyes.

McNeil seems to be toast if he cant play LB over Garner.

Armstrong must be going on loan to miss out to Iroegbunam when we know Gana also goes wandering.

Alcaraz must be furious seeing KDH playing in the 10.

Contrary to others views, Beto was hung out to dry with those tactics today.

Moyes really threw the game to get more funds to waste it seems.

I hope it was on Moyes to get more signings, otherwise were in for a long season.

We didn't deal with the high pressure, but we never learnt.

Beto, hes an interesting one. Its pointless playing him, or even having him, unless youre playing to his strengths. He wants the ball played in behind, not once did we do that today. How is he meant to be effective if youre not playing to his style?

No one will be able to come Vincent me why Iroegbunam started today, ir why McNeil never got a game?

Id have played

Gana KDH
McNeil Ndiaye Alcaraz

As my 5 today. Feel for Iroegnumbam, he becomes the whipping boy. I actually felt Garner wasnt awful, hes not a full back though.

Tactics all wrong, nothing positive from the game. Let's hope it was a message to the owners.

Fans, best I can recall when so poor for a long time.

Respect Mr Gumble. Hoping these new owners treat you right.🥰

I think we’ve once again treated preseason like a fitness exercise and it isn’t, it’s practice for football, passing, movement, getting back up to speed with the rhythm of a season.

I heard Graner speaking a couple of weeks back that they hadn’t done any tactical work yet, no instructions, just fitness.

That always worries me.

They don’t support one another on the ball, there’s no movement off the ball. They should be showing for each other and giving plenty of options for every pass. That’s a practice thing.

Another small thing that makes a lot of difference is passing the ball in front of a player so that they are moving onto the ball and not always checking their run.

Such sloppy behaviour.
