Can we Unlock the Relegation thread again please?

We have a different team and manager.
We won't be down there. Close thread.
Or perhaps reopen the previous thread so people are allowed to air their valid concerns in such a thread?

No-one is forcing you to read it buddy, if you want blind optimism I think there was a European places thread somewhere....

It will play out the same as the last few.

We'll go into the international break in the bottom 3 even though we had 3 winnable games on paper.

Then we'll spend September, October and November hoping to quickly bed in any new players whilst trying to catch up to the teams above us.

Then we'll lose or draw loads of games in December because the squad has no depth.

And we'll eventually get out of the danger zone come early spring and canter to the end of season.

That's great apart from the fact that we've had to endure a mostly awful 6 or 7 months of an only 10 month long season.

Yeah, great fun. How about for once, we get our squad sorted in time for the season start so we can avoid all this bollocks and have something akin to a stress free season.

Just a thought.
The only worry is that you only have to stuff that equation up one year to end up down or seriously at risk of going down.

I agree though, the lack of foresight and structural planning that places us on the back foot for the first few months (at least) with this regularity is incredibly frustrating.

Having a relegation thread before a ball is kicked is odd to me - especially after 2 seasons we've just finished 20+ clear.

It's losers mentality.

Besides it's not like theres nowhere to air those concerns. You can get in a foetal position in the corner of your room and share your concerns here if you like;

For me, it's not just a thread about being relegated, it's a thread about airing your concerns about being a team who could be relegated, even if there are certain caveats attached to that risk, for example "if we don't sign a RB I think we could be a rello contender etc etc".

It's not a 'losers mentality' at all. As individual fans, we have no direct control or influence on what happens at the club support on a day today basis, so our own mentalities on a forum, whether positive, negative, excited or concerned has no correlation with how the team actually performs. I would attribute a "losers mentality" to someone who goes out to play themselves in a game and thinks they are going to play badly/lose etc without trying to actively influence the game they are participating in. So I would disagree with you there.

I'm not sure I want to express my opinion in the "how's it going" forum as, as an earlier post I made suggested, any expression of concerns around people not so like-minded seems to just invite vitriol and snarky comments.

Thats why, Sir Moderator, I requested such a 'Relegation' thread or something similar be left available to those who seek to air their concerns with others who have similar concerns, even if they eventually prove to be baseless. I don't think it was unreasonable as far as requests go.

Most fans before a ball was kicked expected us to finish in a boring midtable position without really threatening either end of the table. The relegation thread, even without us in it, provides something to talk about.

Trust me, we are not going to be relegated.

However it's going to be a loooong, hard, unsatisfactory season (yet again). We'll finish somewhere 12th-15th.

We were s**t tonight but we've a higher ceiling than Leeds who I felt were pretty limited apart from plenty of energy. We need to get better and we will.

Fair shout, to re-open this thread. The only reason to do so, is the shocking (lack of) decent recruitment so far.

Fix that in the time remaining and the thread can be closed again. Fix it properly and we can all hit the “Qualify for Europe” thread.

Just open up a new relegation thread then if you’re so desperate. It’s not a difficult task.
