VAR

In a league that is fair this doesnt happen.

They were gifted a win for absolutely nothing.

We were crap, but they didnt trouble Pickford once really.

A draw was the result, which at Elland Road on a night game for their first game back, I would've took.

But we weren't allowed to, because the story tellers decided otherwise.
At the moment we gave the ball away messing around at the back,it was going to end in disaster, but up till that point we were totally in control second half. Nothing comes to of that phase of play, we build again and I honestly think we win 1-0.

Pathetic officiating to keep the sky neutrals and happy clappers engaged

I do also feel a bit tin foil hat when I wonder how it might feel helpful for the overall competetiveness of the league, to have sides like Leeds and Sunderland win on the opening weekend. All the narratives have been how long it took for a promoted side to win last season, and as a brand, how terribly that panned out with relegation battles being over by March and pretty much nothing to play for in the league on the final weekend of the season

It's not a penalty. It's especially bad that the referee wasn't sent to the screen considering it wasn't his call to begin with.
The totally bizarre nuance with VAR is that the linesperson can give it, the referee then gives it without seeing it, and then isn't given a chance to even check it himself as it's not part of the process unless VAR disagrees with the decision. Tarkowski in the post match said the conversation he had with the referee, who almost agreed with saying that if Tarkowski did what he described, it wouldn't be a penalty. Yet, he then didn't see it, but gave the penalty.

To be fair, watching it on the TV, it looks like he gets a shout in his ear which would be from the linesperson based on how soon after it came. Spot on, this.

Since its introduction, PGMOL have pissed around with the protocols and procedures of VAR, that it is an unholy mess now.

And we’re the muppets who always get the mucky end of the stick every season.

If i didnt have a season ticket and didnt enjoy seeing all my friends and family at the game i wouldn't even bother with this league anymore. Feels like we're fighting an unwinnable battle every season.

We're basically an extra in the greater tale that the premier league are telling at this point.

That pen is never given against city, United, Chelsea arsenal or the RS.

This is the issue with this league its corrupt wheather intentional or unintentionally it is corrupt.

Its one of the many reasons why i only watch everton games from the PL. The rest of this joke of a league cant stick it where the sun dont shine.

This is a joke....if the ref doesn't give it then it has to be reviewed...

You can't give a pen going off someone else's opinion without seeing it yourself...

This is the same linesman who couldn't be arsed keeping up with play to spot we should have had a blatant corner first half

For what it's worth, I don't think it is that! I do genuinely think that it is some not very intelligent people in charge of, what feels (but in the context of life aren't really) significant split second events. I wouldn't be surprised whether phenomena like subconscious biases, are not even named, when in actuality, this is a huge thing that plays out in refereeing. The type of people who suggest they, 'don't see colour,' when it comes to things like racism, when in reality, we all do, and it's important to name, when we consider how we respond to people.

It's intentional, football isn't about football anymore but how much 'content' it can feed the happy clappers who buy their sky subscriptions and who in turn fund the farce of it all
