2025/26 David Moyes

Surprised he didn't go with back three considering missing out and out full backs. I know it's not his formation of choice but sometimes needs must. Garner did ok considering but JOB was under pressure all night. Anyway I imagine many of us won't be giving out about Myko for a while.

No.. but for a lot of the other younger lads they absolutely could be performing much better with better coaching. Not exactly a hot take..

Michael keane has had about 9 managers at Everton. None would ask him to do that. Same for myko id suspect as well.

I respectfully disagree. Regardless, he wasn't the issue tonight. Thought the two cb did well.
Tarkowski is more than comfortable bringing the ball out and very rarely gives it away. I have never got the yard dog notion (Well kind of, he is obviously a bit of as thug!)

Yeah the defence was actually fine tonight to be fair. A lack of any real chances cost us tonight.

We dont mate. Tarkowski is a yard dog, great defender but not a ball playing one. Mykolenko couldn't do it. O'brien played like he had lead in his boots tonight so thats another one.
All about coaching and handing players confidence.

Moyes is not the coach to do that.

Never was and never will be.

He's a route one manager.

He played loads of games in the top flight last season. Theoretically he should be ready too.

I do think the club confuses potential to grow with being unable to kick a ball until they are 25.

But its as ive said in that thread, its the expectation of delivering straight away. You spend £40mill (something like our 4th most expensive signing) on a right winger, they'll be games like this where the fans will expect performances from a 20 year old.

Personally, hes not the profile we need for that price. Nothing to do with the player.

We need a player from outwide who'll get behind the defence. All we have are players who play in front of it (if Moyes lets them).

Whats he good at again?
Getting in behind the defenders. He is strong and fairly pacy. He also his all the grace of a lump hammer.

Expecting him to hold up the ball is ridiculous.

I'm not saying he is perfect, far from it. But when you have a limited player it may be an idea to stay away from his weaknesses and not just play the same system regardless.
