We've got to move away from the fear though mate.

Last 2 seasons we've earned the points to finish 20+ points clear and closer to Europe.

We've spent money this summer and will spend more.

Issue is we start every season terribly - we've not won a game in August for 4 years and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes 5. It then piles the pressure on.
We don't have proper pre seasons. It's completely disorganised every year.

Most of our recruitment comes last minute, we can hardly field enough senior players for friendlies, and we never look fit enough for matches in August.

I think it's pretty embarrassing for the new regime to have had another pre season like the last few.

That needs to apply to the whole club then- that set up tonight suggested Moyes was absolutely terrified of Leeds and had no intent of trying to win the game.

This summer has been particularly frustrating.

I got it the last few as we didn't have a pot to piss in and had to sell.

Starting a season without any full back, with the likes of Keane and Tim Iroegbunam starting.

We don’t overreact in August.
True…. But just imagine we go into a season full of confidence and we can build that all during pre season….

Wouldn’t it be amazing.

But typical Everton.

Unless we make several signing in the next 2 weeks nothing is going to change

Just as frustrating as the last few years but was much more avoidable this year too.

To be putting out a proper relegation 11 like that in week 1 is a total embarassment.

I think the recruitment team have no idea what they are doing. Just like in the past, the most obvious priorities that every supporter can see, are not addressed by the time we play meaningful football.

I dont want to hear from them I just want to see actions in the next 10 days. If you want to improve and become a big club then stop acting like a small club in relegation trouble.

We’ve had similar comments every year for the last 5 seasons now. Then we get into late September and we’re in the bottom 3 and looking at another season of struggle. So yes- maybe we are being a bunch fannies, but that’s totally understandable given what we were told would be this bold exciting future and just witnessed that abomination of a team selection and performance against a team who were in the championship last season. Brighton will be licking their lips after watching that.
I agree, every time somebody says one thing critical, it's "bed wetter" this and "negative swine" that.

The team set out tonight desperately needs balance in the lack of LB/RB/RW and some squad depth in some other positions. I appreciate entirely that it's not always easy to source the top targets quickly, but surely we could have snapped up a few squad players on frees or loans just to create a little positional depth, then used the majority of budgets to add first team strength. For example, a good idea was a free like Tete from Fulham, or someone else reasonably cheap as a RB, then go for an improvement that takes more time on a bit bigger a budget.

We looked short on cover and lacked balance in the USA games, and very little has changed, judging by that game. Leeds appeared a weaker opposition than those in the USA friendlies, but they still had enough (albeit with a frustrating helping hand from the VAR and the ref), and it doesn't seem sensible to gift opportunities to give weak teams points at any point in the season.

But hey, lets go to Brighton in the same position and gift them 3 points, so all the negative bed wetters like me can be told to grow up as there will be 36 games left then!

I nearly agree with him. It’s posters like you with your silly names, clutching to memorable things in the past which once made you salivate have made the ref give that penalty tonight. Dust yourself down and go again mate.
Can't believe the best crosser of a football in our side when I was 10 years old has caused us to be relegation fodder.
