Started the game with all manner of players out of position, and looked a shambles.

Isn’t that exactly what the ‘bed wetters’ were saying would happen all summer?

Yep.

We all saw this coming.

No surprise at all what happened tonight and we’ve left it too late to rectify it.

“We’ll still sign four players, don’t worry, your bedsheets are wet LOL”

Maybe you don’t, but history shows he got/gets praised for a lot of transfers, whether you did personally or not

Is it? So we had to play Beto for the full game, or a hilariously right sided midfielder at left back, leaving McNeil on the bench despite him basically playing there in the past? Or maybe playing our only box to box midfielder in KDH behind Beto, chasing shadows, and playing Tim as a box to box, who is atrocious on the ball? Small things but those add up - we had no full backs and no width from there and they abused it very obviously. Playing 2 #10s on the wings is the only thing he could do nothing about as we dillydallied on the transfers for ages.

He’s supposed to not put them in front of the ball, as he threw himself at it which was a risk. I say it again - if one of their defenders did it and we didn’t get a pen we’d cry for a week straight.
If my choices at left back are between Garner and McNeil, I’m picking Garner every single time. More industry, more discipline in his positioning and far more likely to face up to the physicality of the position. Let’s be crystal, fascinate all you want on the Garner selection but if you think his performance was the issue tonight, you are 100% wrong.

I’ve said in another post that Beto as the first choice is a big worry so we agree on that point. He looked dreadful today.

I don’t think Moyes fancies McNeil which isn’t an uncommon opinion but could see the logic in starting him ahead of Tim, but restate my point about the pen, it is never, ever, ever a penalty.

Yet another slow, poor start to the season because we are under prepared both in terms of being match ready and recruitment .

Unacceptable and also very boring now.

Honestly it’s not worth even bothering as a fan until about November with this club.

Pathetic

Serious question - is there actually any point watching football any longer?

We can all pick the bones out of the quality of the team performance or lack thereof, tactics etc but when you have brainless dumbo decisions like that to essentially settle a game, I ask myself why waste my time?

What's the point?

Penalty decision has taken the spotlight off that derisory performance. One of the worst in years first half and second half wasn't much better.

For years now people calling out the terrible preparation, poor recruitment and shocking pre-season results have been called 'bedwetters' by a proportion of the forum. That tonight was a culmination of those problems for the 5th season running.

Brighton will beat us Sunday and Wolves will probably get their first points of the season against us the week after. Then it will be another August without a point.
