2025/26 David Moyes

Every summer it is the same

“Pre season friendlies do not matter”
maybe they do if you’re so bad you lose pretty much every game

“plenty of time to sign players”
maybe not if you want to compete in the first few games of the season and avoid playing catch up
Yup, they deffo matter.

The results don't. (Though winning some games wouldn't hurt morale)The performances should. Try something new, get used to new players etc etc.

Blame the manager as much as you like but the recruitment meant the manager had a terrible pre season. The trip to the tournament in the US was a waste of time. And the lack of early signings meant we were not ready to play

Bad pre seasons mean bad starts. I find it incredibly people still argue against it. Everton in the last 5 years are the perfect case study of why pre season and being organised matters if you want to start properly.
The manager is choosing the players to try and sign, no one else. He didn’t want to work with a DOF, this is all on him.

Firstly, you cant fire Moyes.

Secondly, hes blown £93mil by improving the strong areas and not the weak ones.

Thirdly, he's done that today to make a point that he needs more money and to sign players he wants.

Fourth hes used KDH & Alcaraz out of position as predicted. Disgusting.

Fifth absolutely 100% on him today. Hes thrown the game with team selection, tactics and subs being worse than Dyche or Allardyce.

Why did he sign KDH, Alcaraz and Grealish to use them like this?

The preparation for that tonight seemed half arsed, at best. Had the players out there to so much more than they did.. makes you really wonder what he said to/did with them this week in the lead up 🤷‍♂️

We always look so non-plussed whenever the new season kicks off. Its really odd..

He’s been badly let down by the awful transfer window we’ve had, but that doesn’t excuse a) the starting 11 or b) the absolute total lack of attacking intent. One shot on target in the whole game. Even when they scored the game plan remained to just hoof it up the pitch and hope for the best. Today was a collective failure of the manager and the people responsible for building a competitive team/squad.
