Angus Kinnear

Premier League quality players cost a minimum of £25m.

Good, young, ones seem to be moving to around £35-50m

Given we needed around 6 starters we were always going to struggle.

Fixing Everton is a 3-5 year effort not one window.

I've no idea if Kinnear is the right person to lead that. But I won't be judging him yet.

Apparently Kinnear was a ‘best in class’ appointment.

Think you always hadlve to judge same with thelwell might have been in a tough position but must call them out. For example thelwell not fixing the pace issue we had and at fb even tho money was tight. Even this window we have had money to spend and have failed in fixing the right side so far. If they do hopefully and can have a strong end to the window. I would still have a problem with it being so late. But happy to give them a chance going forward, next summer is the first real time we will see

How do teams find players for cheaper? Can we not use loans/frees?

If this window is showing anything, it's the sheer scale of the negligence of the past decade. Absolutely disgraceful.

That certainly doesn't absolve the current hierarchy or give them a free pass - I'm disappointed were not in a better position and we obviously need at LEAST a couple more regular starters this window but as I say it just emphasises what has happened at this club.

I'd also like to see us looking further afield but that's just based on the stream of "rumours" we hear. Who knows who we have or haven't been looking at?

I continue to be of the opinion that Thelwell should have been given a chance with some money to throw around. He did a fantastic job on a shoestring budget and deserved his opportunity to spend freely on players.

I am not posting this as a criticism of the new recruitment team, rather in praise of Thelwell's job. Although, if you wanted to, you could quite easily criticise the new recruitment team.
