Everton Youth Teams Thread

A lot of this United team are extremely highly rated. It’s the one thing the club has managed to do well in recent years, snapping up some extremely highly rated young talents. Obviously JJ Gabriel already getting lots of attention because of the talent he has at such a young age (still only 14yo), but Thwaites and Ibragimov in midfield and Kukonki in defence have all trained with senior team and would be expected to make the step up soon.

A few positives to take from that . Gardner picking up where he left off and looking composed throughout,Gokah is a tall guy , he was slightly above Loney when in the wall , I prefer big CBs as opposed to big 9s at this age. Potentially a good CB partnership there. I thought Freddie’s Murdock did well , a good battle in the middle particularly with their 6 Thwaites controlling the play for them . Akarakiri seems to have grown taller rapidly and nice to see Matos back.
Overall United had the better players, JJ is a box of tricks and you can see why they’re excited , Thwaites too looks good. In reality we know the majority of our team won’t make it, we just need 2or 3 though to break through.

I actually worked with his uncle, he said his Brother has been training that kid to be a professional footballer from the minute he was born. He signed his first sponsorship deal at 8 years of age or something stupid. He even changed his surname to make him more marketable.
Scary isn’t it. My mum taught a former Everton player when he was like 6 or 7, kid sat and ate crayons all day but come parents’ night his dad was just “it’s fine, he’s going to be a footballer” and just wanted to talk about his football and whether the school was doing enough to nurture his football talent.

In fairness he did do well in football and will be set for life but for the stories you hear of incredible parental dedication that came off you worry about how many haven’t.
