2025/26 David Moyes

Depends when you mean. That season they were poor, though they played well after Christmas and carried had a decent finish. The next season they were sixth at the end of December, had just beaten Arsenal away, had their best start to a season ever and were in the later stages of the Europa League.

West Ham actually hijacked their own chances that January as they moved to force Moyes out. As we can all see now, he was certainly not the problem at the club. They look like relegation candidates this season.

When Alex Ferguson left United, was your view that he left a title winning team for Moyes?

It wasnt mine. I thought he left an ageing squad with clear weaknesses which needed major investment and a rebuild.

Moyes was dealt a weak hand at United.

However, the same can also be said of what Moyes left at West Ham. Did he leave a european trophy winning side oozing with youth and quality?

Or did he leave a squad filled with dross and a few diamonds?

Fergusons departure sowed the seeds of Uniteds downward spiral.

Moyes departure sowed the seeds of WHU's demise.

He's a good coach. He's also not been the best in the transfer market for over a decade.

We need a good coach. We need someone else to be in control of transfers.

Sadly, Moyes wont accept that.

Agree with this 100% and it is a concern if he may moves ‘upstairs’ at some point.

He's been absolutely 'kin useless in this transfer window.

No leadership. The reverse in fact: handing an image of the club to potential players of disunity.

Except every single signing so far has spoken of Moyes being pivotal in them deciding to come here?

Discussing the role of manager David Moyes on his decision to join Everton, Dewsbury-Hall continued: "For me to leave my old club, it would have had to have been for something special, a project that I really believed in. After speaking to the manager and seeing the ambitions with the new stadium and everything, it felt like the right club, it felt like the right fit for me for the next step.

"[Moyes] said he's been admiring me for a while; he loves the way I play and just explained to me what he sees me doing in my role in this team. That's what you want to hear as a player.

"I have enormous respect for him, he's a legend of the game, so it'll be a pleasure to work under him."

What do you expect them to say "I came here despite the manager" ?

If Dibling arrives and says that Moyes swayed him, you might have to beat a hasty retreat, Dave.

Backtracking at it's finest might be in order.

Not at all.

Has Moyes been a miserable get all summer? Yes.

Has Moyes told the media we're a club that is plagued by leaks? Yes.

His demeanour has been that of an arrogant and petulant child.

If he'd won what Mourinho has I'd have no problem in Moyes acting like he has. But he hasn't. Far from it.

Slightly off topic but I wonder how different Moyes is behind closed doors vs in the press with his players. Feels like he really plays things down a lot and sounds pessimistic publicly but players still always talk about him giving them confidence. Probably on purpose to shield them or something.

Depends which way you look at it, mate. He's approaching the end of his managerial career now and probably has little patience for stuff not getting done. It's been said that the owners promised him both the squad overhaul that was needed and a few quality additions, so you can understand why he's calling out the lack of signings in key areas.

I'm on your side here but honestly think all new signings are made to say something complimentary about the manager.

They did it with Benitez and Dyche. Granted, the positive things they say about Moyes are probably more genuine.

He was also talking about spending smart and not necessarily having loads to spend on the last game of last season.

The problem with Moyes is that he wants to have it both ways: be seen to have zero expectation on him with a big spend, but also wants players in.

His signalling is all over the place.

He just comes across as a man unhappy being here. I'm sure the CEO and owners have noticed it and he'll get his 'wish' not to be here if he's not too careful in the next few months if we're not doing it on the pitch.

Moyes doesn't have the cache to go up against this new set up. He gives the impression he thinks he does, but he doesn't.

He's failed to embrace the new era...in fact, he was telling reporters on Friday how much of a burden a new stadium can be for teams.

He's the wrong man for this era. There's no question about that.

He's got first hand experience of managing a club in a new stadium tbf, I think there will be teething issues.

If Moyes is the person supposedly making us throw close to 50 mil on Dibling then I understand your point, but other than that I personally don't think we've overpaid on any of our signings. The Grealish loan is expensive, but on the other hand, how else would Everton get a player of that quality?

He's here for the short-term, like. Get us back into the top half pushing for Europe, a younger coach comes in next summer or the summer after.
