Everton v Stoke City English League Division One match at Goodison Park. April 25, 1981 poor attendances to say the least -

Yes the 80s saw the worst attendances but to be fair this is the Park End after it became away fans only.
We demolished Stoke 4-0 in 1984 and my dad (driving his cab) picked up four Stokies on Walton Road after the game, I was sitting in the back of the cab and was cacking myself at the thought of away fans getting in. They were the warmest fellas going, just enjoying a day out watching their team even though they had been thumped and the scoreline had been generous to them. How following your team should be.

Of all the times we went in the park end with thousands of away fans as blues never any trouble - only when the red lot got their ticket allocation for all of it & they would rip out the metal barriers from the wooden floors .....no fighting that I know off ever - City fans used the Goodison road to gather in thousands maybe as they gather on the side of the Kipppax street side Maine road back then as the behind the goals were only small ends ....

I even went in v Manchester United - they crowded the park end - they had to stay back 15 minutes to avoid trouble outside the ground with them as this happened on occasions - I can remember as a kid all their coaches getting stoned, smashed to bits good style - no love lost with them depending on the result etc... they usually got a police escort back to their coaches etc ....

That must be a rare programme - I had never heard of such a game being played.
Yes & the main point is we were runners up by a 2 goal aggregate - we were never the champions - but as we went up a team over the park went down to the old division 1 - stayed there for 10 years ....

Can you imagine that feeling being a blue - & The Pit got its nickname - as Anfield was unkept back then - they were skint .....
