2025/26 David Moyes

I personally think we're Top 10 material right now, barring injuries, but we definitely need more. I would like to think with 2-3 more players we could push for say Top 8 BUT, and I must stress the but part, I don't believe that should be a survive/sack ultimatum on Moyes if we don't.

We've been rubbish for years. We have strengthened, but so have most other teams.
At the same time I've seen teams that are mid table do nothing like Fulham or in Brentford and Bournemouth's case weaken their squad so this is the time to capitalize

No, I mean challenging for European places within 2 seasons.

They aren't expecting Europe this season.
So absolutely no progression from last season to this .?
Very dispiriting and uninspiring.
Perhaps they should delayed the price increases until they could deliver any value for money .

In fairness, I don't see many Europe-capable players wanting to join us. We've been a basketcase for 4 seasons. Top-half finish this season would be amazing, and hopefully aide us go out and get the sort of players who are capable of being competitive.

Moyes is a decent manager...but with him winning the mickey mouse competition with by far the best squad of that tournament that year, I have a feeling at times that he thinks he is the second coming or something like that. How dare are those players rejecting the club after having a conversation with him...how dare are people leaking information without his say...yes he was very good at times with us previously, but he hasn't won a trophy in England ever...perhaps he needs to show a bit more humility and more accountability. He is, like the recruitment team, also responsible for the current state of the squad. Let's hope he can turn it around in the next 2 weeks...

West Ham were never favourites to win that tournament. And that was before the Europa dropdowns entered the equation.

Even in the final, Fiorentina were a better team, but West Ham were setup well and were able to take their chances when it mattered.

Amrabat schooled Rice in that final.

He did well to win that trophy , no question.
But his league performances were not impressive for the money invested in the team.

West ham had a very good squad then...its debatable which one had the better players, fiorentina or West ham...one of those players, rice went shortly after to arsenal for 100 millions...dont quite recall any fiorentina player going for even half that money...the fact are that he had the tools to win it, and on paper for me he should have won that final a lot easier rather than scraping through with a late goal right at the end.

Depends when you mean. That season they were poor, though they played well after Christmas and carried had a decent finish. The next season they were sixth at the end of December, had just beaten Arsenal away, had their best start to a season ever and were in the later stages of the Europa League.

West Ham actually hijacked their own chances that January as they moved to force Moyes out. As we can all see now, he was certainly not the problem at the club. They look like relegation candidates this season.

What matters is the match. Fiorentina were better. Amrabat was the best player on the day, though Bowen got man of the match for scoring the winning goal.

Paqueta has been a very up and down player for them, but he repaid the transfer fee by winning them that cup.

I think you are overly generous as I am overly harsh.
The truth as always , lies somewhere in between .
Moyes is a good solid mid table PL manager .
He is generally good at keeping a team where its value suggests it should be .
He may occasionally breach that envelope of expectation by a small amount , mostly a few places upward occasionally downward .
But what he most definitely isn’t is inspired .
You get what it says on the tin , solid , dependable .
The difference in the football we played when Martinez took over his team was marked , the ‘School of Science ‘ banners in the St were celebrations of the return of enjoyment and pride in an Everton side that had palpably gone missing during most of Moyes long tenure.
As an observation , isn’t it odd how his teams habitually only play well for half a season ?
Guess we were lucky we got the ‘good half ‘ last season .😁

Not for West Ham. He’s actually their best ever manager in the top flight (excluding cups) manager. Even their best ever managers (Lyall, Greenwood) never had such consistently high finishes in the division.

That perhaps says more about West Ham than anything else mind! In fact, if anything, West Ham have just reverted to the mean.

I think Moyes can really take the club back where it should be - challenging for European finishes.

Wouldn't say they had the best squad but certainly one capable of winning the trophy
