2025/26 David Moyes

I think the John McGinn and Conceicao name leaks tell me all i need to know about Moyes failure.

In addition i dont see why Hammond has been hired. Whats his record of accomplishments that deem him superior than someone from a financial background for example.

On your second point, I don't know mate.

The evidence is all there to see. Roma sacked 3 managers in a calendar year and Jose publically attacked Dan Friedkin after his sacking.
I acknowledge that. Jose will Jose thiugh. Most likely a closet RS. My point is that our new SLT is notably separate from TFG writ large. As is Roma's.

I think the minimum expectations that TFG have for Roma are to qualify regularly for the CL and challenge for the Serie A title.
I would assume their expectations are similar for Everton .
Moyes has enough ability to survive the length of his contract , barring any unforeseen failures, but my guess is he will be replaced when it expires .
However I think if he fails to get us into European competition this season his position will be reviewed.

If you think TFG's expectations for Everton are regular CL quals and challenging for the title you may still be pissed from last night.

As I said yesterday you appoint Moyes and the conversation is going to be like this. It is what it is.

It's a fair few steps down from letting the RS, Allardyce and Dyche manage us but it was still one of the choices most likely to cause division.

If there is any truth to him having a high level of influence on our strategic planning for the squad then that makes me dislike the appointment even more, as my memory of him is that his own reputation comes first before the clubs and that doesn't bring long term planning.

But again short term this season, I'd be very surprised if he has us in any real danger. He will likely have a couple of poor runs though and because of who he is that's when the new manager talk will pop up very quickly. I'd expect him here next summer again tho.

Nah!
You’re right
They’ve bought us to maintain our mid table
obscurity .
It’s our decades long utter insignificance that they are investing billions of pounds to preserve.
Throw in one of those last gasp survival seasons , and they’ll be satisfied.
Boredom and nothingness are a real money spinner.

Challenging for Europe within 2 seasons is their stated aim, is it not?

This, unironically, sounds like something that @davek would say but genuinely mean it
