2025/26 David Moyes

To be honest , the honours system always makes me chuckle. People who have done brave , or selfless things for the good of others bundled together with people who have ingratiated, paid and done political favours for their gong .
When the ‘awards’ are also named for an entity which had ,to all effects and purposes , ceased to exist about 70 years ago , it makes the whole process slightly risible and empty of any real meaning .
Absolutely
Even if the entity were the same, a pilot in the Battle of Britain being awarded the same as the next down the list of British football managers that haven't got one yet is diminishing said meaning to say the least

It's the same as the Sports Personality of the Year awards now as no-one takes them seriously

In the mickey mouse competition. Lol.

...but you carry on setting a low bar for Moyes to reach.
I have no bar for Moyes.

I dont really care about Moyes, I care about Everton and currently we play in the hardest league in the world, so I take nothing for granted, especially how we just spent the last 4 years struggling to stay in it.

Moyes needs more players, which im hopeful he gets, but we have a massive glaring hole up top.

My concern with Moyes is short-termism.

Alcaraz had a cracking loan spell, and we secured him for a decent fee. Following this summers signings, I’m not sure he’s going to get the game time, which will impact his development and resale value.

He seems to be after Premier League ready signings. Maybe because he knows himself he won’t be manager for the long term. But buying Premier League ready didn’t work under Moshiri and I don’t think it will work now. I’d rather us be looking for players on the continent with a high ceiling.

After the failure of the Moshiri years, I’d hoped we would be a bit more like Brighton / Bournemouth/ Brentford in our recruitment.
