Match Thread Leeds v Everton, Mon 18 Aug, 8.00pm

Oh dear... why do fans not see the bigger picture? Gana's tackling, blocking, nicking the ball, etc, is light years ahead of Garner. Without him we'd have been thrashed many times

He’s 36 next month. He’s not in the bigger picture. Fans go on like he’s the only midfielder in world football that can win possession back. We need to be moving away from starting him every game if we want to progress as a possession based team.

You misunderstand a simple thing. The bigger picture does not mean the future. He is 36 but far and away our best (only) ball winner. This season he has to start as much as possible. You like hyperbole don't you? No one is going on about him being "the only midfielder in world football that can wing back possession". But he is easiest the best we have now that does that. "Progess"? Yes, one step at a time. "Possession based team"? THAT is going to be much later, if ever. I am deffo for positivity, for progress, but not deluded.

You move towards being a possession based team by having players who can look after the ball. I’d like to think Everton can buy a midfielder who can win the ball back and also handle it better than Gueye. I’d also like to think that Garner and Dewsbury Hall behind one of Grealish or Alcaraz have enough experience between them to know what to do when not in possession and not get run through any time Gana is not playing.

No other PL team will have a 36 year old starting every game for them. There’s a reason for that.

I’d rather Keane play than Patterson.
Keane is just an accident waiting to happen every time he plays. Fills me with dread. He always reminds me of that character from Saving Private Ryan.

JOB is really good at RB. Still worries me at CB. He will end up there and be great in time, but at the moment, having JOB CB and Patto RB puts 2 slight risks in the back 4. Slotting Keane in and leaving JOB RB puts 1 risk in the back 4.

If Aznou is LB, as well, then it’s miles off our back 4 that played so well last year.

Pivotal call for Moyes for this game. But think we all know what it will be.

Im in a part of Majorca that is comedic in its levels of German-nes. Last night every bar was showing the Werder Bremen match.

Never thought it was going to be an issue finding somewhere to watch this. Probably end up following the match on here, god help me.
I stayed round there when I went last year, so many Bratwurst and Beerhall places

He's OUR only current player who can win possession back, possibly barring Tim. The rest are more adept at giving it away.
