Match Thread Leeds v Everton, Mon 18 Aug, 8.00pm

We might be going in weaker in defence, but I think there'll be enough chances created in attack to win with Dewsbury-Hall Ndiaye, and Grealish.

I think some of you are giving this Leeds too much respect. One of the favourites to go straight back down.
Yup. I realise it's their first home game back in front of an electric crowd, but there's no reason at all for us not to go here confident of a performance that should lead to a win - or a result at the very least.

We have better players. It's as simple as that. We also have a better manager.

This is precisely the kind of game we should be targeting for a fast start. Anything else is expectation management and doesn't augur well.

Get the win early so the traditional Moyes slow start becomes less likely. Everyone - but also the manager - benefits hugely from that. I really do think we could be entering turbulent waters if we start slowly again, so let's put that worry to bed in August starting Monday.

Im in a part of Majorca that is comedic in its levels of German-nes. Last night every bar was showing the Werder Bremen match.

Never thought it was going to be an issue finding somewhere to watch this. Probably end up following the match on here, god help me.
Guten Tag. Whereabouts are you?

edit: back on topic, agree we should be looking to put these to the sword #COYB
edit2: although I see Leeds are getting some backing and have come in to 7/5 favourites - must be the Glendenning effect...

That match was worth watching though. Something special happening in Bielefeld and their stadium is always rocking

I’d like to see Garner next to Dewsbury Hall deeper. They both handle the ball better than Gana. If we want to improve and become a more possession based side we need to move away from Gana starting every game, his passing is terrible.
Oh dear... why do fans not see the bigger picture? Gana's tackling, blocking, nicking the ball, etc, is light years ahead of Garner. Without him we'd have been thrashed many times

Neither will we with Gana. I know people don’t like to say it for some reason, but he’s played in every terrible Everton team you can think of over the last 8 or so years. He’s excellent at winning the ball back but he would t have to do it half as much if he could keep it better.
You have done 2 plus 2 and made 5 there

Just back from golf, a 4 ball with 3 Leeds fans so plenty of chat about Monday. Safe to say they are not at all confident, we need a fast start to pipe the crowd down then should control it.

Patto's final chance to salvage an Everton and probably a Premier League career now—if selected over Keane (it's one of the other playing: Patto starts, O'Brien CB. Keane starts, O'Brien right back).
