Everton Youth Teams Thread

One day we might actually produce a goalkeeper through our youth set up was Andy Rankin the last one who came through the youths drew brand I think only played a couple of times

….it is amazing, Albert Dunlop and Andy Rankin in my time the only local goalkeepers who came through the ranks.

Geoff Barnett played in our ‘65 FA Youth Cup winning team before playing in an FA Cup Final for Arsenal. Martin Hodge was local but found us in a roundabout way. Beyond that Jason Kearton, Drew Brand are amongst those who played a couple of times but nobody of note. TBF, the RS have also struggled to produce goalkeepers of note.

Scousers are statistically short. It’s not our fault.

When i was a lad if told your DAD that you play in Goal.He would give you crack on the head even if was only a street game,it ment you got picked last so we always played nearst the Goal to be safe.

For reasons that are beyond me Drew Brand is one of those random 70’s youth names that I always remember along with Ross Jack and Cliff Marshall. Between them they barely troubled our historians ,just players I remember 🤷‍♂️

Didn’t Drew Brand let 5 in at Leeds ? and I think Cliff Marshall went to my junior school, but that might be an urban myth.

…I knew Cliff Marshall a bit as he played for Liverpool (and England) schools the year before me. I think he went to Smithdown Rd School secondary @bigjonny sadly passed away a year or so back.
