He was very highly rated at that point .
To be fair we probably would have been happy to spend £40m ( or its equivalent then) on him.
He hasn’t fully realised his potential since , but that’s the chance you take . ( or would have taken )

He's been very consistent assist wise bar 1 season before he joined us (5-7 a season). £15mill at 23.

Dibbling needs to hit those numbers from the off.

Believe the manager they sacked, come out and said it was a mistake not playing him at the start of the season, as he was trying to protect him and he did go onto play / start a lot of game.

He shouldn't be forced to. His parents live there so why put himself in the position of the bad guy to Saints.
It's surely not beyond our wit to establish the bottom line that Saints would accept and then pay it - or not.
I don't think we have any other credible options for the position - so time to pony up or take a walk.

£40m+ and a sell clause is madness as the lad has to turn into a £80-100m player for it to be worth it and there is no guarantee of that.
