But what criteria are you basing your valuation on .
If you pay less you are going below the level of a Hutchinson for example.
Ironically the less money you spend the higher chance you have of gaining an inferior player and having to spend more again to upgrade later.
As I have alluded superior scouting can offset that risk , but we have seen no evidence of that so far this window .( except perhaps the Bayern lad )

The only true measure of value is when he's sold.

We are the only bidder at the moment, so the market value of Dibling is what we're offering.

That doesn't mean Soton accept, but that's market value.

Yeah.

I like the player, he'd be a great addition with a high ceiling.

But for the price it doesn't solve our lack of pace, aggression, and end product in the final 3rd coming from the right side.
Mate he's rapid and he's an absolute terror, proper yard dog winger in the Mané or Kvara mould (in terms of aggression off the ball)

Of all the things to beat him with, this ain't it.

As with all young players the end product can be called into question, but let's see how his decision making improves in a better side and when he can trust his team mates

Ouattara fine. Would hesitate in Hutchinson's case though personally.
He's had 2 full seasons in the first team. Was (again) slightly more productive than Dibling.

The point I'm trying to make is you have more information on these players and can better assess their futures. They may not have higher ceilings, but they have higher floors as well.

I don't know that you can say the same about Dibling. He stood out in the eye test on a very, very bad Soton team. I don't think that's a great barometer.

This

If the lad had any real end product at this stage of his development on top of everything else that he possesses then you'd imagine that Southampton would be asking for much more than £50m either way..
