Dibling played 33 premier league games last season, scoring two goals and making an assist in an ultra crap Southampton side. The idea that he'd need two years to 'develop' is ridiculous imo. He'd be a starter from the get go.

Yep. If he wasn't an almost regular starter, there woukd he many more ?????s.

I was sold a couple of weeks ago. Get him in and get him dribbling and purring, whilst Gtealish forces the opposition kecks down towards the left.

You don't overpay for anything in real life Football is the same ....
Who decides the price ?
£40m is now become the average value of a decent player.
Ideally you find value undiscovered elsewhere, but everyone is searching for that.
Sometimes you have to pay the going rate or do without .
At present all the widely mooted alternatives to Dibling have gone , or are preparing to go for around the same price .

We have purchased very good players for under 40 million - plus the deal 25% sell on fee if he turns out to be a star & a big club comes in etc ....

We have also purchased very average ones .
Like it or not , unless you have a superlative scouting system , and/ or a superb academy you have to pay the money if want a better quality of player.
( Our scouting and academy are both notably poor at the moment)
