Pick me Davie!

….i was on here saying Keane was poor when his stock was at its highest, the majority of posters liked him back then after all he was playing for England.

Saying that, the situation of his contract renewal is perfectly understandable given the paucity of the squad and the challenge to bring in so many players this window. After all, Tarkowski, Branthwaite & O’Brien had all demonstrated their ability to play CB at the top level, Keane is clearly behind them in the queue.

The plan is to bring in a RB (Tete deal looked done) in which case we’d have 4 CBs for 2 positions. Branthwaite’s injury ahead of the RB acquisition has impacted plans and probably results in Keane having to start. It is what it is, the squad rebuild is not complete.

Keane started at Newcastle in the last game of the season. They were desperate to win for Champions League qualification, we won without conceding. It’s a disappointing situation but I don’t think anybody is to blame, all is not lost but we clearly need a RB.

Spot on mate. Very reasonable take.

Because he's not the hero Hill Dickinson deserves, but the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent mistake maker. A watchful bystander as forwards waltz past. A Blue Knight.
