….weird window for me, this is another signing that I’m not in the least bothered about although I appreciate lots of Evertonians consider him a very special talent. Thing is, Moyes wants him which is what matters.

Was told a story a few years back by an old footy mate who did a bit of scouting for Everton before getting quite senior roles with another club. Moyes called a few of them into his office and asked who is the most talented Academy player in the country, they conferred and agreed a young lad at Soton called Gareth Bale. Moyes asked how much it would cost to secure him and was told £1m, a figure he baulked at and said it was too much for an unknown.

Maybe Moyes remembers that discussion.

This is easily the thing that stands out most when watching him. For a 19 year old with that level of technique, it's kind of mad watching prem-level defenders bounce off him as he stays balanced and on his feet
