Dibling's value will drop though next Summer with only 12 months left.
Problem could be how the player reacts.
He could have got a move to the prem and been made or life more than likely 10 times the wage he is on now.
If his head goes down and he doesn't perform, which clubs are coming in for him at that stage?
He only would have a year left as well.
Even if he ripped the league up next year , he might say sod the club they didn't care about me last year.
I am going to wait and keep the money myself when I am out of contract.
Personally if I were him I would say that to the club
either do a deal now or I am not signing a new contract under any circumstances and am going to see my contract out.

A deal won't be possible if they want 50m + 20% add on. It's not realistic. They've also effectively announced their intention to sell by their rhetoric and actions, but have still not moved in their position.

Either they've thrown it out as a 'top good to turn down' price, they think someone is going to pay what they want (I'm not sure who will realistically go for those terms) or they are pricing him (and themselves) out of a move.
I think they are waiting for a better offer and will try to drag it as late as they can. In their instance it would not be good to keep a disgruntled player. I think they will come down but we or whoever will still have to be at the table. They likely won't be looking at this money for him next year with his contract dwindling.

Asking for £50m and £60m for players who played at the 2nd worst team in premier league history.

Make of that what you will

Tyler vs Kenny Miller, so by today's money having double goals Kenny must have been worth about £90mil  🤷‍♂️

Makes sense though right? Try to get back up and hopefully it won’t be as big a disaster the next time. These players will still have value next summer if they can’t bounce back.
They won't be getting sold for 50/60 million out of the championship.

I think what they're doing has massive potential to blow back on them here.

I wouldn't be happy with us paying 50/60 million for a championship player.

Don’t agree with that, he could have a storming first half of the season and they could be demanding even more at Christmas.
It wouldn't be relevant....the standard of the Championship is very poor now....the 3 clubs that come up tend to get relegated again straight away...pretty sure it's 2 seasons in a row now the 3 up have gone back down again....and the points gap is staggering....used to be you needed 40 points to stay up, now 27/28 points will do.....what he does in the championship shouldn't affect his price, all he will be is 6 months closer to being a free agent

I think it'll get done, but might drag out

I do think Southampton over-valueing the lad (based on the season he just had). an obvious talent, but comeon now, you just got relegated and the player wants to leave, 35-40mill is good value for your young talent that didn't set the world alight

Sums for players just got a bit silly
