If Southampton don't lower their price, and no one else comes in for him, let him spend a season in the Championship and mull over why he didn't press for the move.

I think Southampton are still trying to act big, when they are not big at all...

West ham just had a bid knocked back for Fernandes. They want 50 for him and all. Tbf although not directly linked it could help our case and disrupt things as you feel they'll have to sell one of them.
They let Ramsdale go on loan - I can only presume that was because he was on astronomical wages or had some kind of relegation clause like Jack Harrison allowing him to do so. They also have Bazunu and McCarthy, who I guess are both more than good enough for the Championship.

I wonder if they have an autoreply on their generic transfer offer email address stating the asking price is £50m. It would be a bit of a shock for anyone enquiring for Will Smallbone

Think they are looking at Bournemouth with envy haven't they just sold 3 of the back 4 for over £50 million each or something mad like that

Pretty good once she got Into the Groove tho.

I think they remember last time they were relegated and got 53m +add ons for Lavia after everybody said they'd have to sell at 40m.

It's not little boys having a peeing contest ffs.

If they balls up this time great, but I'd never complain about a club getting as much as they can for an asset. After all if Dibling has just a modest start in the champ' some panic driven numpty will pay 25-30m come next window so not a nuclear disaster.

It's one of the reasons "7th placed trophy" is a weird criticism from our own fans. That's a huge achievement in the current climate.

The key for any club is hitting that level then not accepting it as a ceiling.
The reason we criticised it was because we used to release a celebratory DVD for hitting our heads on that very ceiling.

That told us all we knew about our ambition to break it...
