New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Where can we talk about it then given it is relevant to Everton and this is an Everton forum. Feels wrong to silence these issues.
Not to get into trouble with mods, by bringing up issue again, but Everton were right. Politics has no place in sport, it hasn't worked well in Glasgow, Italy or Eastern Europe. In fact bringing politics into sport played heavy role in causing Balkan wars. During Euro 2016 you had Northern Irish with ROI fans singing together on ferry like it should be. You go to games to support Everton, if you wanna make political statements go to political meetings.

Politics have always been and always will be a part of sports. It's inevitable.

I'm confident that there will be something that happens with the stadium in the future that will be arguably political whether that's lighting it in certain colours or draping it in certain flags or otherwise.

But it shouldn't be the reason why sectarianism died in Liverpool and stayed alive in Glasgow was because Everton and Liverpool didn't engage in politics. That's the reason why you don't have to worry about getting your throat sliced outside a pub in Liverpool for supporting wrong team. It's why when we played Liverpool at Wembley both sets of fans chanted Merseyside. Celtic and Rangers fans rioted on pitch. Because Everton and Liverpool don't get involved in politics, hospitals aren't full of injured people and you don't have players receiving serious death threats, such as Neil Lennon. My issue is same woman wouldn't have dreamt of turning up at GP with a T Shirt saying Free Cyprus considering Northern Turkey has been occupied for decades? Kurds have been massacred and oppressed for centuries, did she turn up with Kurdish flags to support them? No. Clubs endorsing political causes and allowing fans to use stadium to promote their agendas leads to problems. Most the problems in build up to Yugoslav wars were caused by a small extreme minority, who used sports as a vehicle to promote an agenda, that lead to people killing their neighbours. There's a reason why far more people have been seriously injured relating to Celtic v Rangers, compared to Merseyside derby and that's religion and politics.

I was wondering about this.

The amount of people "following" others through the barriers without scanning their cards/phones was crazy.

I know the technology is meant to be brilliant and its all camera controlled in someway but I did wonder at the time if people could feasibly be charged for stuff they didn't pick up and also could/would the cameras be used to identify those who didn't scan.

It was the Through Pass in the NE corner of the upper tier and there was just a single person at the barrier who I think was mainly there to explain how it worked and not to police it. There were no stewards anywhere to be seen.

My thoughts are the same. People kept following people in. Either the person they're following get charged more or the person follow out will get investigated.

That's not always the case though, my lad followed me in, is already scanned my bank card and we picked up one pint each and walked out the other side, I was charged the correct price for what I bought.
