Dibbles will come here after a slight give on both sides, it's negotiation not a playground scrap.

If he were not to then Saints lose some £ (possibly) if they sell in Jan or next season. They also stand a better chance of promotion (Dibling is not pushing for a move apparently, but unsettled as he doesn't know where he'll be living/working next month).

Saints could do with one further sale to fund new player(s) and balance the books but as they have a 40% wage cut implemented by a relegation clause on most of their squad not that desperate.

As I said last week I think we'll have to sell at least one of him and Fernandes who we'll want a similar fee for.

Both will probably go in all honesty but I don't think it's essential that they do.

How likely is that with him not even being considered for the squad at the moment and being unhappy - I’d suggest we saw this with Gnonto and Leeds year one, was late in the winter that he settled down again and they went promoted.

You are right, there is an element of risk management to all of this. So that’s where decision making comes into play.

He could enable promotion or not.

Or his sale could enable it or not.

Equally we could be signing the next Rooney or we could be signing Simon Davies 2.

Any and every decision is taking on a measure of risk for both clubs.

Southampton in my opinion have already decided to sell him, or else there would be no talks.

We actually changed strategy after the Fofana bid - to focussing on deals that the selling club and player also were interested in and get be done if all were in agreement.

Of course that includes him as well. He's turned down a contract which likely would have made him a millionaire and so if this doesn't come off and he decides to see out his two years he's lost out big time.

If he stays he will definitely be integrated right back into the squad, too much of an asset to not be, loads of examples one was Gnonto who actually went on strike, you're guy has been loyal. I'm hoping Isaac at Newcastle is another example....

Branthwaite also 4 years older and far more PL proven, and on the cusp of the England squad. It's funny, if you look at the Saints' boards over the last 24 hours, they are fuming that Everton have agreed to a £50m buy option on Grealish next year when their man is 'easily worth more on potential'.

There's massive potential for sure, and I hope we do get him eventually, but there's also massive risk at any price above say £40m when he's only 18. The potential premium and the risk premium offset eachother to a certain extent.

There is no way on god’s green earth we pay 50 million for a near 31 yr old Jack Grealish next year
