Stats and how they are used/applied are nearly as bad as var and how they have ruined the fa cup in the modern game.

You don’t need stats to see a good player with the ball, you don’t need stats to see good skill, you don’t need stats to see good runs off the ball, you don’t need stats to see good organisation and teamwork, you don’t need stats to see great tackles/positioning/blocks by defenders.

You just need to watch the game.
The myth about stats is that they are a new thing , they arent , managers and scouts etc have been using them for decades .
They have just become more refined and more available to the general public.

My concern about the new signings this summer is how they'll blend in to a team.
We've signed a 6ft5 striker with 3 skillful midfielders behind him in Grealish, Ndiaye & Alcaraz. Are they going to create the kind of chances that Barry will thrive on?
We either need long balls in to the big man or good crosses from behind the defence.
I suspect Grealish providing balls in to feet that split through the defence will suit Beto a lot more.
Beto is 6ft4. While I appreciate a single inch can quite often make the difference I don't think it applies to football tactics.

Barry's height is a useful advantage but doesn't dictate the style of player he is. Many clips of him on YouTube shows he scores most of his goals with often tidy finishes from balls into feet.

Grealish is a free-kick-winning machine.

That alone will provide an abundance of high balls into the box.

Highly doubt we will see all 4 on at the same time much.
Maybe when we’re trailing Sunderland 0:2 at home.

You don’t need stats to see those things, but the stats will show you whether what you’re watching is representative of the player’s general performance - turning a tiny sample size into an enormous one. If your sample size isn’t big enough, you can end up signing a centre back who can’t head, as Moyesy once did.
