Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

I just think the guy is massively overhyped to be honest, i've seen him dribble down so many dead ends over the years. That and I hate the idea of these 'big name' loan signings, i'd rather we spent our money building a good young side and buying people like Mcatee. Are we really going to spend a big fee signing Grealish if he has a good season and he's thirty?
No young players seem to want to come to us. We kill young players, few days ago folk were on our new left back Aznou saying he was gash after a short unexpected cameo.....
Aswell as Grealish being a proven top class player, having masses of PL experience and multiple trophies we dream of.... he heigtend our profile, makes other players interested in us and takes pressure of any young players we can bring in and can learn off him. Everyone will learn alot from this guy and we get a winner in the dressing room who the other player cant help but respect!

Mark Hughes
Gazza
Ginola
Gareth Barry
Fabian Delph
The return of Wayne Rooney

I'd say the only real success was Gareth Barry.

We all thought they would be massive hits with us.
Noone expected Hughes, Gazza, Ginola or Delph to be massive successes? The first 3 were well finished when we got them and Delph was perma-crocked!

We hoped Rooney would work and I don't think it was a disaster. The real comparison would be Alli. And I hope that Grealish has more about him than Dele.

Wonder about the long term strategy in this, If there is one

Have they worked something out with the player and City if all goes well

Or

Do we sign a Marquee loan every season knowing they’ll leave but also knowing that there’s usually someone like them in the market next summer
He will be the catalyst for better players and there agents taking us serious again..
That’s the premium mate

Did anyone think they would be hits? I thought Delph might have done better. Barry did better than I anticipated. The rest I thought were over the hill and uninterested in us. Grealish has a point to prove with the World Cup at the end of the season and is on loan, we can just send him back if it doesn’t work. The others were looking for a final pay day.

In the summer of 2017 when Rooney signed people used the World cup in 2018 as a reason he would be motivated for us.

Forced out by Benitez? You really think that? Given what we’ve seen about the clubs financials in the last 3 years? Would it not make more sense that the clubs hierarchy realised the mess they’d allowed Ancelotti to put us in and one of Benitez’ prerequisites was to get shut of the fella who thought flying home to a World Cup squad (that he wasn’t selected for) was more important than acknowledging the fans of the club who had paid his ridiculous wage? It’s not hard is it.

He played roughly 20-25 times for us in a season we finished 11th. If that’s your hope and expectation for this club then that’s on you. Not me.

He was a waste of money. We’d of finished in a similar position without giving him a million quid a month.
Yep forced out by Benitez, their past history is well documented and we didn't pay a penny for signing him either. Who said it was my hope and expectation I simply stated he was a class player unlike Grealish. That's it. You seem to have got the hump because I'm not fawning over Grealish

To pay £100m for him was completely delusional - as his record for them shows. Look I get we've all been fed up watching tripe for the past few years but the view of Grealish by most people on here bears no resemblance to what he's actually performed like.

Mate they spent £100mill on him and won the treble the following season and their first champions league which he played in the whole of the final.

So i don't think it was a bad move.

I do think they’ve done it as a bit of gamble to get into Europe next season, extra revenue etc etc.
I do think a signing like this heaps an increasingly amount of pressure on Moyes to get us there though.
Profile of the club regardless of what anyone says has jumped up a notch. You’ll have neutrals tuning in for MNF on Sky, the airwaves will be full of discussion, shirt sales and other players will want to play.

Not quite the same but I remember that infamous interview with Rom when he announced he was leaving and said how some bleart told him about Robinho signing for city then it was “bang bang bang” with other players joining.

Or the alternative is it falls flat and doesn’t work out.

Fact of life but there is as much to gain off the field than on it however for the first time in how long, having creative ball carrying players who can slot a decent through ball on the deck to our strikers excites me. Although PGMOL will let seven shades be kicked out of him every week.

Sick to death of 60 yard hoofs to the striker with their back to goal man marked by two centre backs 30 yards from goal.

One telling thing for me about this signing..... is my 8yo, who is football obsessed now is really excited by the signing and the Mrs has asked to get him on the back of a top.

But for the young ones, they know his name, they know him as a top player and if he can perform like we know he can will be super exciting to watch this season!
My 12 year old has been absolutely buzzing since the news broke
