Confirmed Signing Jack Grealish

Forced out by Benitez? You really think that? Given what we’ve seen about the clubs financials in the last 3 years? Would it not make more sense that the clubs hierarchy realised the mess they’d allowed Ancelotti to put us in and one of Benitez’ prerequisites was to get shut of the fella who thought flying home to a World Cup squad (that he wasn’t selected for) was more important than acknowledging the fans of the club who had paid his ridiculous wage? It’s not hard is it.

He played roughly 20-25 times for us in a season we finished 11th. If that’s your hope and expectation for this club then that’s on you. Not me.

He was a waste of money. We’d of finished in a similar position without giving him a million quid a month.
Not having this like, this alone was worth his wages

He's not quick enough to leave anyone for dead. We haven't signed him, he's on loan and past his best. Buy players like Macatee for god's sake and build a proper side.
Let's just see how it goes.....you could prove me wrong.
Just a breath of fresh air compared to the Tosun, Maupay and numerous others who've cost us more than Grealish will.

I don’t need stats mate, stats can get in the bin.

He just needs to forget everything that bald fraud coached into him and start playing his own type of footy again, then he’s light years ahead of what we’ve had and will improve us.

You seem to be very negative about this deal, when it seems a win for us whatever way you look at it?
I just think the guy is massively overhyped to be honest, i've seen him dribble down so many dead ends over the years. That and I hate the idea of these 'big name' loan signings, i'd rather we spent our money building a good young side and buying people like Mcatee. Are we really going to spend a big fee signing Grealish if he has a good season and he's thirty?

This is what genuinely frustrates me. We should be trying to build a team for the medium term and not wasting money on people like Grealish. Paying £20m for Mcatee makes much more sense. The fact that we are thinking about this as a 'premium loan' is concerning. Stop spunking money on 'names' for the short term and build a good young side.

To be fair mate we’ve just signed an 19 year old left back a 22 year old centre forward and we know we’ve bid on two wingers 19 and 20. You need a sprinkling of experience to go with promising youth.

Also a name like Grealish will no doubt attract other prospects too.

He was an integral part of the team in the 2022-23 campaign, making 50 appearances as City won the treble, starting every knockout game in the Champions League.

He was keeping Foden Mahrez and Palmer out the team in a Pep Guardiola side that won the treble and some people are acting like we’ve bought 35 year old David Ginola again after he did well in a legends game.

Wonder about the long term strategy in this, If there is one

Have they worked something out with the player and City if all goes well

Or

Do we sign a Marquee loan every season knowing they’ll leave but also knowing that there’s usually someone like them in the market next summer
I do think they’ve done it as a bit of gamble to get into Europe next season, extra revenue etc etc.
I do think a signing like this heaps an increasingly amount of pressure on Moyes to get us there though.

That was his most productive season for city, yet he only scored 5 goals and got 8 assists in the Premiership and the Champions League combined. It's hardly exceptional is it?

Mark Hughes
Gazza
Ginola
Gareth Barry
Fabian Delph
The return of Wayne Rooney

I'd say the only real success was Gareth Barry.

We all thought they would be massive hits with us.

Did anyone think they would be hits? I thought Delph might have done better. Barry did better than I anticipated. The rest I thought were over the hill and uninterested in us. Grealish has a point to prove with the World Cup at the end of the season and is on loan, we can just send him back if it doesn’t work. The others were looking for a final pay day.
