Dominic Calvert-Lewin watch

Makes you wonder how much interest he’s actually had, haven’t really seen any solid rumours for him yet and certainly not from the big hitters he seemed to be expecting.

I know things can change pretty fast and there’s still plenty of time left for a club to suddenly come in for him but it’s not looking quite as rosey as he anticipated this summer.

Hes a not relevant any more.

The reality is, hes scored 17 goals in 4 seasons, half of which were pens.

Hes played in 92 league games in that time (out of 152).

Commanding wages hes asking for (allegedly) is ludicrous. By contrast liken him to someone like Awoniyi at Forest, bagged a load of goals in a block (like Dom did), has played a similar amount of games (72 in 116) and has 17 goals in 3 seasons.

Would anyone from anywhere north of £100k a week at him? I doubt it... so why would they for DCL?

He won’t be getting anywhere the reported 150K a week he was reportedly after.

He’s pretty much lumped in now with a load of other desperate players who are out off contract now.

Someone might be desperate enough to ignore the trend of an injury prone, rarely proficient forward and focus on the outlier of the season under Don Carlo when everything went right. But, it won't be anywhere near the 150k that was banded around.

I don't think it's just his agent, he just isn't that good, not many clubs want a player whose injured half the season. Also he doesn't take his chances, such as Newcastle on last day of the season.

Its hard to deny there's less drama with him around. Be it his own (social)media appearances or his wife's, it's just a bit less going on.

You have to wonder if that also plays a part in his lack of offers. Injury prone, rarely prolific, bit of a media circus etc.

NFL thinking runs something akin to, a starting Quarterback can bring all the media circus, hangers on and general nonsense they can bear. But a backup can't be anything but a church mouse.

To DLC then, if he isn't your starting number 9, is the social media, high profile stuff worth the hassle and distraction it can bring to your squad?

Don’t know about that one mate. Mason Greenwood and Thomas Partey got decent moves so I don’t think having an opinionated missus is going to have hurt him too much.

Even if you really rate the lad, injuries and form have killed him the last couple of years. He’ll be a last roll of the dice when the dust has settled everywhere else. I still reckon Newcastle but could see him going to Villa, especially if they flog Watkins.

I dunno. I reckon he has had a few offers. He'll do ok. Broja to Burnley is the biggest head scratcher. His injury record is even worse as is his goals record.
