New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

How does it feel when you're sitting in terms of the steepness? Watching the game on Saturday and some of the angles made it look incredibly steep.

For a comparison with something you might be more familiar with, in the upper tier (approx 34°), it is just a few degrees less than the Top Balcony (approx 38°), and a few degrees more than the upper Bullens (approx 31°), but obviously with more legroom than in either of those old stands. If you're in the upper tiers directly behind the goal.... you do feel like you are looking down at a very steep angle onto the goal at your end. While probably not too unnerving for most people, it might take a bit of getting used to for some.

The other issue is that it's quite a climb up to the rear half of the stand. Noticed a few older fans taking a good while to get to their seats, grabbing every handrail on the way. Also, the 2nd level concourse is actually set quite low and is at the same level as the rear row of the lower tier (sides and North stand lower).... so the upper tier vomitories are quite a few stairs, before you even get onto the stand. Most of those vomitories seem quite narrow too, especially for having quite long stairwells. Only the corner ones seem to be to the same width as say those in the old Park end, which allow for some contraflow.

Where can we talk about it then given it is relevant to Everton and this is an Everton forum. Feels wrong to silence these issues.

Thanks for the response. I find that disappointing really given this is the largest Everton forum and it relates to the club and the fanbase but rules are rules. Ta.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably be looking to get a ticket that isn't too high up then!

What were the acoustics like, comoared with Goodison, at the Roma game?
Loud, plenty of bass, audible. An improvement certainly. You can see the speakers around the top in this picture...

From the back row of the park end I could never understand a word at Goodison, or properly see the screen.

Thought the acoustics were brilliant at the new stadium, and could see both screens even with my dodgy eyes...
On the live feed it was very loud.. I had to turn the volume down on my headphones!

Have a feeling once we play competitive football the acoustics and atmosphere will come into its own...

Looks like a World Cup stadium.

Of course, it is a Euro 2028 stadium.

I can't give it higher praise than that - other than to say most World Cup stadiums look the same these days (a la McDonalds) and we need to add some unique Evertonian touches to brand it with our own identity.

Magnificent.

That sounded a bit Partridge, didn't it.

Hard to tell as the crowd was subdued during the game (for obvious reasons). Before the teams came out there was noise with the build-up songs which suggested the acoustics will be terrific when the chants get going.

The tannoy was deafening at the South upper, needs turning down a bit.

Yeah, having walked up the steps to when the stadium appeared in full view my thoughts were along the lines of "Christ, this is decent".

It's big, quite a contrast to Goodison.

Yes, good detail Thomas. I’ve gone from near back of TB to near back of East Stand and it’s so much steeper😮‍💨

Not sure the ground lends itself to getting the chants going though !
