I’m guessing we’ve just agreed to the stupidly high purchase clause to get the loan deal over the line. The wages if true of £250k per week have to be in place of a loan fee. That would be about right, maybe City have said no loan fee but you need to cover a significant portion of his wages
If so, then that makes more sense.

If there's still a loan fee of around £12m (as has been previously reported) on top of covering £250k of his £300k pw wages then, admittedly, this is a wee bit pricey for us that..

My guess is City have probably binned off the loan fee for us to cover the wages, like I said that makes sense as that much in wages probably does equal about what the loan fee would be for a player like Grealish

Fair enough I guess but are they there in capacity as the family of a player from 100 years ago or are they in those seats because Prentice works there?

I think for all clubs, the family of a player from that far back may get invited occasionally but not regularly.

You said they shouldn't be welcomed at all.

I agree with Prentice not being made welcome but to throw the whole family under the bus as well is a bit much.

This bodes well

It looks like were paying his £250k wages which is around £12m

Wow - only a 50k drop from his actual City wage. Lot of dough for us that if true...

As others have said, if we had paid 30 million for a player of his ilk, we could be looking at 10m down and another 5m in wages for the year. If we pay Grealish 13m we've actually saved some cash.

Of course we haven't got the reward of a potential sell on value is the issue. We also haven't got that risk of being stuck with someone on high wages, which is where we were with a lot of our players under Moshiri.

TFG had a similar buy option when they loaned Lukaku at Roma too.

50m, what it does is gives us a foot in the door at the seasons end to renegotiate taking him permanently.

Yes. We would have asked for an option and City will protect themselves. There's no way that option gets taken up. FWIW if he does well, I can see another loan and then he's out of contract.
