The family of Dixie Dean not to be welcomed at the new stadium?

Bit much that.
Fair enough I guess but are they there in capacity as the family of a player from 100 years ago or are they in those seats because Prentice works there?

I think for all clubs, the family of a player from that far back may get invited occasionally but not regularly.

Ive no idea of which method they got the tickets but I mean he wasn’t just ‘a player‘ however long ago he played .

If I mention his name we all know who he is , even a fair proportion of none Everton fans . How many of other players of that era do you know ?

This feels a big statement from Everton... I'm interested in the wage bill...

Unless I'm mistaken, we'll pay £62mil for him in total if we sign him?

£50mil Purchase with £12mil Loan?

I get the sentiment but I stand by my comments that the family of any club's best historic players don't get box seats every week.

If we sign him, it’ll be because he’s done so ridiculously well this season that we deem him worth £50m to us next year. I’d say that would be a pretty positive outcome tbh.

Yes the blues, finally something to get excited about.

He’s got a real opportunity to be a hero here, hopefully Moyes gives him free rein to just play and be the class player everyone knows he is.

Hopefully this gives the other the little quilts, like Fofana, that turned us down for champ league clubs (that are never coming anyway) to sit up and take notice. COYB

I’m guessing we’ve just agreed to the stupidly high purchase clause to get the loan deal over the line. The wages if true of £250k per week have to be in place of a loan fee. That would be about right, maybe City have said no loan fee but you need to cover a significant portion of his wages

Happy with this and the option to buy also. He will be motivated and give 100% knowing the World Cup is next year. I’m more excited now for the season with Grealish and KDH added there will be more flow and chances. Beto and our other strikers will be thrilled proper support for them just need a right winger and RB. Glad this didn’t go down to deadline day

Was thinking the same. Fofana Grealish and N’Diaye would transform our attack.

TFG had a similar buy option when they loaned Lukaku at Roma too.

50m, what it does is gives us a foot in the door at the seasons end to renegotiate taking him permanently.
If he was such a smash hit and became an overnight cult hero, even having the option to buy at 50 is a positive. I'm not saying we would take it up - but it would, as you say, give us leverage to negotiate some kind of reasonable deal.

City will be hoping he is a massive success here. That puts pressure on us. We will be hoping he is, too - for obvious reasons. But, in reality, he is more likely to be a positive - or moderately successful - for us and both sides would recognise that nobody is paying 50m for him at that point next summer, so a compromise would likely be found.
