Last year Sterling had 0 goals 2 assists Grealish had 1 and 1.

The year before Sterling (when everyone said he was awful for Chelsea) he had 8 goals and 4 assists while Grealish had 3 and 1.

So I ask again: would we feel this good about Raheem on loan?

No, because Sterling’s legs have gone and that’s all he had, his actual footballing ability is average.

Also what you’re telling us with those stats is that Grealish is slightly better more recently?

Grealish also has to play to a very strict set up at City where he isn’t allowed to show any creative freedom. Sterling’s career has been built on putting the ball over the top and letting him chase it. You can’t compare their stats because they play different roles for their respective teams.

It’s called forward planning. Sunderland only knew of promotion in May and have got 10 in. We needed a similar number and have 5. No excuse.

But have you seen the players they've brought in? A 31 year old left back from the Turkish League, a 31 year old left back released by Atletico, a winger who couldn't cut it at Brighton, Granit Xhaka, and a couple of young kids from Belgium. I'm sure we could bring in an equal amount of dross if it was literally just about getting numbers in.
