Stop Owling Around - Sheffield Wednesday's Dilemma

Know a lot of Wednesday fans.

Basically for years the owner turned into a spoilt brat (its his families money and not his) after failing to get into the premier league. He pulled any funding, they've dropped two divisions, had points deductions, chased by the tax man, over that time. Equally he goes to fans forums and puts statements out to goad them saying THEY should pay for everything.

Its all come to ahead now that even part of the stadium is closed due to it being unsafe due to negligence and they're on a 3 window transfer ban. They can't even afford to pay for the match day staff or their away hotel (I think Leicester have said they'll pay the hotel costs to fullfil the fixture).

Funny enough there are actual buyers out there who had bid for the club or want to over the years and even now. He wanted £100mill+ for it even though its nowhere near worth that so hes rejected them.

Its these things youd think a regulator should step in and force a sale because its getting to a point where fixtures may not even be able to be played.

Horrid state.

Theres an easy solution to this which the powers that be and the sky 6 cartel would never allow....

Owners can spend whatever money they want, provided they personally take on the debt....

Should they want out they have to pay off any debt so the club doesn't suffer.

If you want to spend 500 mill go for it, but you have to pay off the debt over a 3 year period?

Tldr spend what you want to compete but debts aren't allowed to be placed on the club

Loading the club with debt was fine for abramovic, the glazers have done exactly that at United and the rs with hicks and Gillette, but they just get written off, clean slate because those clubs are special - are they more special than a massive historical club like Wednesday? Why can’t Wednesday be saved on a whim, who made them rules up? Who decides which club deserves saving against blag rules?

They have pulled the ladder up now with PSR and crippled the rest of us, but they do what they want and will always do so.

Barry Bannan cementing himself as a legend of the club. I know he is coming to the end of his career but he easily could have taken a guaranteed paycheck elsewhere

Does that article go into how his kids were crying at the prospect of him leaving? He seems like a decent bloke.
