Apathetic Evertonians

As a non season ticket holder - it was a privilege for me to be at the game today.

Loved every part of it, walking down to the ground, enjoyed a couple of pints, saw lots of friendly, smiling faces enjoying themselves - stadium looks incredible, was genuinely awe inspiring for me. I remember my dad taking me to Goodison as a 10 year old - and standing in the shadow of this new gorgeous home made me miss him more than ever

Then I get into the game. Mass exodus after 30 minutes, another exodus after 40 - most of the crowd coming back late for the second half.

And then the legends game. For which about 70% of the fanbase buggered off for. Not interested in seeing Baines and Pienaar? Yakubu? How about just soaking up a little bit more of the atmosphere in our glorious new stadium - in a game that didn't cost you anything extra to attend.

Fans not bothered about seeing Dewsbury Hall debut? Aznou and Barry playing?

Seems like a large portion of our fanbase is more arsed about hanging around a concessions stand rather than watching a football match.

Too cool to wear a football shirt
Too cool to watch 90 minutes
Too cool

Everton that
Most didn’t sign up for the legends game when buying their ticket and most would never contemplate two 90 mins back to back. I for one have seen enough of Jan muca, Jose Baxter and niasse to last a life time. I enjoyed my extended half time pint reconnecting with friend enormously. It was a privilege to be there today and to do it in manner I saw fit 👌

Just got home after a fantastic day..

Hunts Cross to Moorfields a few pints in town ( like a lot of other Blues )
Stopped at Murphy's for a refresher then on to the Stadium.
Found our stone on Everton way , took in the plaza then on to the concourse.
Self serve Guinness was pretty OK.
Seated 30 mins before kick off staring at the wonderment the ground is.
Watched half the legends game.
Back to town and a few more beers.
Train home with a Chinese meal the Mrs sorted.
Absolutely Top day .

Never seen any mass evacuation, never seen big queues it was all bang on.

The Stadium.....JUST WOW.

For everyone saying that it was a pre-season friendly, look over at Roma's travelling supporters - singing for much of the match, whilst our crowd was quieter than I would have expected. I heard more singing on the South Stand concourse after the pre-season friendly than I did during the game.

I know that there is an element of hypocrisy to this post, given that I did not start any chants myself. However, as much as I enjoy taking part in chanting, I am just not the type of person to start a chant myself. Without a shadow of a doubt we have amazing supporters but today did not reflect our reputation as a fanbase.

I agree that there was a noticeable exodus to some extent, yet I think 'mass exodus' is exaggerating it slightly. After all, it is a test event and supporters have every right to explore the ground and it is probably better that they did that today rather than during a competitive fixture. When competitive fixtures do arrive, I expect an improvement but there is definitely going to be a bedding-in period as people adapt to new routines. Flags and banners, for instance, could go some way to help create an atmosphere and enable people to settle into our new ground and call it home.
